As a former pupil, I can confirm that the school does have a reputation for 'stupid pupils'. Naturally this rep is unfair, and stems from the fact that it does concentrate a little more on sports than other similar schools and, importantly, provides extra academic support to those pupils who need it. Perhaps these latter facts should be mentioned. --jazzle 09:42, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
It is somewhat disingenuous of Mike Edwards, an employee of Shiplake, (see the school website), to be removing a link to an article on the ranking of school academic results, just because Shiplake came bottom of the results table. While it is understandable that he might not want this emphasised on Wikipedia's entry on Shiplake College; Wikipedia does attempt to be accurate and list sources. As far as Shiplake's reputation is concerned, its pupils are regarded as academically challenged, and it is not an exageration to say that Shiplake is regarded as the joke public school by pupils of other academic institutions. --shiplaker - 30 August 2006 (UTC)

I have tried to improve the article but it is resistant to my efforts. I cannot find decent third party references (see WP:RS) to support any of the claims, and even the school's website doesn't appear to mention (eg) the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. Mr Stephen 13:15, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

At last, a decent NPOW wikified version! Did one such version myself, not so great as this one, but it got reverted and I really did't have the time to get into a war over it. Let's hope it stays like this now! Richardbates2002
