This article says "Shipham Hill is the highest point in the Mendips at 1066 feet", however Black Down, Somerset says "The summit of Black Down is Beacon Batch, the highest point of the Mendip Hills" and the Beacon Batch article claims 325 m (1068 ft) - this gives the impression that Shipham Hill is not the highest point. Can anyone verify?— Rod talk 08:44, 30 June 2006 (UTC).

I have modified the claim for Shipham Hill. It would need some accurate surveying to rank these two hills. JMcC 09:59, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Stock car racing

I think the section on stock car racing needs to be rewritten in less emotive langauge more suitable for an encyclopedia. Although the mendip raceway should certainly be mentioned I don't understand "race "specials" to compete in full contact competition. The big-league formula has winged cars with 500+ horsepower V-8 motors, and the smaller F2 cars have 2-litre four-bangers, lightweight but hardy." - but I don't have the specialist knowledge to rewrite it. I would also be interested to know what makes it a "working man's sport" and "oft misunderstood" and see some references to support these assertions.— Rod talk 12:29, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
