[edit] Who is Ikumi?

In page 404 of the novel, just before Mimura dies, it says:

He thought, Kazuo, damn, so I ended up losing to you.
He thought, [sorry Yukata, how lame is this Uncle?]
He thought, Ikumi, fall in love and be happy. Looks like I won't be able to. Looks like...
[Mimura dies]

Who was she? Could it be Izumi, the rich girl who I think Yukata loved? Or one of Mimura's girlfriends he never cared about?

I'm not sure... In the manga, we see a young woman (~20-30 yrs. old) during Mimura's flashback scenes. She seems to be very familiar with him and his uncle. My guess is: that young woman is Mimura's cousin (his uncle's daughter), or probably a member of the "underground resistance movement" which Mimura and his uncle are (supposedly) also part. I won't reveal any spoilers on the manga, but for those who are reading this, you'll see what I mean when you reach the final volume. --Henrickson 05:16, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Ikumi is most likely referring to the classmate, who Yukata was in love with. Those quotes from Mimura probably refers to the fact that Mimura has never really fallen in love with anyone, depite sleeping with several girls. Mimura expressed this in an earlier conversation between him and Yukata. So Ikumi represents the idea of falling in love to Mimura, not an actually crush on Ikumi. --emburst
Ikumi is Shinji's precocious sister, three years younger than him, who during the novel asks him if he'd prefer an arranged marriage or a romantic one, to which he replies that he isn't sure he'll ever get married. - Civanfan

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Mimurashinji.jpg

Image:Mimurashinji.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
