Shizugawa, Miyagi

Shizugawa (志津川町; -chou) was a town located in Motoyoshi District, Miyagi, Japan. On October 1, 2005, the town merged with the town of Utatsu to form the new town of Minamisanriku and no longer exists as an independent municipality.

As of 2003, the town had an estimated population of 13,688 and a density of 110.16 persons per km². The total area was 124.25 km².

Activities include going to the beach, fishing, hiking, and bicycling. The town contained a junior high and a high school. Most residents of the former town are employed in the fishing industry or government.
