Shitterton is a hamlet nestling in the village of Bere Regis in the Purbeck district of Dorset, England, situated at the junction of the A31 and A35 trunk roads half way between Poole and Dorchester. The village has a population of 1,797 (2001). The name of the hamlet (sometimes Sitterton) is almost unanimously considered humorous, and Rude Britain ranked it no. 9 in its book The 100 Rudest Place Names in Britain.

The village was featured in an article in the British newspaper The Independent in May 2008[1].
