Shirur is a city and a municipal council in Pune district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

As of 2001 India census[1], Shirur had a population of 27,000. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Shirur has an average literacy rate of 72%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 77%, and female literacy is 66%. In Shirur, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.
