Shirley Bowes

Shirley Bowes[1], a farmer's wife from County Durham who stood for election in the New Trimdon and Trimdon Grange ward[2] in the Borough of Sedgefield, made history[3] at the 2007 UK local elections [4]when she polled no votes, the first time this has happened in the UK[5] since 1860[6].
