Alkady earned a Bachelor degree in International Business & Economics from New England College – United Kingdom, year 1982 where he was the President of Students Senate and was selected among the students to receive their training at UBK in London. He started his career in 1982 as a securities trader with the Arab Company for Trading Securities (ACTS) in Kuwait (a subsidiary of Kuwait International Investment Company). In 1983 he joined Merrill Lynch.
Joining the banking sector one more time, he was appointed as senior trader for the Bank of Kuwait and Middle East (BKME), then Ahly Bank of Kuwait. During his tenure, he was selected among the team recommended to attend training at the UBAF in New York. He then joined the Tunis Arab African Bank in Tunisia as International Division Manager & Treasurer in 1986.
In 1992 Mr. Alkady decided to branch out independently and landed back in Cairo where he established Prime, an investment banking consulting firm, extending privatization consulting services to the government of Egypt, through the USAID Privatization project. In addition to that, the company was extending corporate finance services to several Egyptian public and private holding companies, in cooperation with KPMG Cairo on valuations of local banking and industrial corporations. Mr. Alkady was also appointed as investment advisor for several local institutions such as Misr Iran Bank, the National Bank for Development and Al Sharq Insurance Co.
Now Mr. Alkady is the Executive Chairman of Prime Holding group of companies. Among his business activities, Mr. Alkady lectures in many local institutions, including - but not limited to - the Strategic Institution of the GIS, in addition to many other governmental establishments and organizations, and he was chosen by Baron “Who is Who” to be among year 2000 – 2001 book edition for the Who is Who in Global Banking and Finance.
Prime Group started operating since 1992 to provide financial and investment consultancy services; especially to the Ministry of Public Enterprise Sector and the privatization program; handling four major activities: Asset Management, Investment Banking, Securities Brokerage and Investment Research. The company has evolved to become one of the largest investment banks at the local level and in the Arab world, with a volume of assets managed reaching 2.5 Billion Egyptian Pounds at the end of the first half of 2007, and a total paid capital of 250 Million Egyptian Pounds. Prime Holding’s activity ranges from securities brokerage, mergers and acquisition, corporate initial public/ private offerings, financial restructuring, corporate financing; to asset and portfolios management.
