Shire of Warwick is a Local Government Area in the Darling Downs region of Queensland, Australia. The administrative centre and major town of the shire is the town of Warwick.
Other towns in the shire include Allora, Killarney, Yangan, Dalveen, Karara, Leyburn and Maryvale.
The shire was formed in July 1994, with the amalgamation of Warwick City and three surrounding shires, Glengallan, Rosenthal, and Allora.[1]
Under the proposed local council amalgamation initiatives instigated by the Queensland Government in 2007, Warwick Shire and Stanthorpe Shire will merge in March 2008 to create the Southern Downs Regional Council.
