The Shire of Maffra was a Local Government Area located about 20 kilometres (12 mi) north-northwest of Sale, the major regional centre in central Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. The shire covered an area of 4,167.43 square kilometres (1,609.1 sq mi), and existed from 1875 until 1994.

Maffra was first incorporated as a shire in October 1875. Part of its eastern riding was annexed to the Shire of Avon on 2 May 1917.[2]

On 2 December 1994, the Shire was abolished, and merged with Shire of Alberton, Shire of Avon, City of Sale and most of Shire of Rosedale into the Shire of Wellington.[3]
