The Shirakumo-class destroyer were built in Great Britain by Thornycroft for the Imperial Japanese Navy. During the Battle of Tsushima they were assigned to the third divisions' fourth destroyer division under Admiral Dewa. In 1912 they were re-classified as 3rd class destroyers. Both ships were decommissioned and disposed off in the 1920's.
