Shipwreck Island is a water park located at Jacksonville Beach, Florida. The park consists of eight major water attractions and is part of Adventure Landing. All of the rides and attractions are included with water park admission. In 2006 there were 275,000 admissions; 5,000,000 since the park opened in 1995. The park changed owners in late 2002 when Jacksonville Beach-based Adventure Entertainment Co. sold four of its seven parks to Adventure Landing, a Jacksonville Beach limited liability company.
[edit] Attractions
- The Pirate's Play Village: This 65’ three-story, interactive water play area has 12 slides, nozzles that squirt and spray water, waterfalls and lots of nooks and crannies for exploring.
- The Rage: This uphill slide water-coaster was the first of its kind in North Florida. Thousands of gallons of water propel the rider at speeds up to 18 MPH!
- The Hydro Half-pipe: A water thrill ride dropping 35 feet. Just like the skater’s half-pipe, but on water!
- The Undertow!: A water slide thrill ride for two riders on a double tube, twisting and turning!
- The Eye of the Storm: This extreme body slide rises over 40 feet, and riders are challenged to see how many revolutions they can make before dropping into an 8 foot deep pool.
- The Wave pool: Over 500,000 gallons of fun with 3-4 foot waves every 15 minutes.
- The Lil' St. John's River: Single and double tubes float along the 720 foot lazy river at a relaxing 5 miles per hour, allowing riders to view much of the action happening at Shipwreck Island.
- Kiddie Cove: This area is designed to entertain toddlers, featuring two small slides.
