Ship's doctor

A Ship's doctor is the person responsible for the health of the people aboard a ship whilst at sea. The assistant to the ship's doctor was called a loblolly boy in 18th and 19th century warships.
George Bass sailed to New South Wales as the ship's doctor on board HMS Reliance.[1]
