Shiner (fish)

Shiner is a common name used for any of several kinds of small silvery fish, in particular a number of cyprinids. Most (but not all) fish commonly referred to as shiners belong to the genus Notropis. The name may also refer to the shiner perch (Cymatogaster aggregata).
