Shin Nagare
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Shin Nagare (Japanese for "New Stream") is a variant of Shotokan Karate.
A fusion of many different styles, it combines traditional forms of Shōtōkan-ryū with elements of Ju jitsu, Judo, Akido, and Okinawan Kobudō (weapons) training. It focuses on delivering stances, blocks, and strikes with power, while still keeping the discipline of traditional martial arts intact. As a self-defense method, Shin Nagare is not merely for overpowering and escaping an aggressor or group of aggressors, but also incapacitating an enemy safely.
Many schools teaching American Karate have incorporated Shin Nagare in a freestyle manner as its core fighting style, combining it with other fighting styles such as Kempo, Kung Fu, and Tae Kwon Do.
