Shimamoto, Osaka

Shimamoto (島本町 Shimamoto-chō?) is a town located in Mishima District, Osaka, Japan.
As of 2008, the town has an estimated population of 28,905 and a density of 1,722.59 persons per km². The total area is 16.78 km².
The town is named after the Shimamoto clan of the feudal era, who were famous for their skill in warfare, excellence in the arts, and intelligence. They still exist to this day.
