Shimada (島田市 Shimada-shi?) is a city located in Shizuoka, Japan.
The city was founded on January 1, 1948. It is twinned with Richmond, California in the USA. There is currently an exchange program for students of Shimada to be hosted by students at Richmond, California and vice versa.
