Shilmani

The Shilmani or Shalmani are a Pashtun tribe who are primarily concentrated in the Shalman valley in Khyber agency near Peshawar, North-West Frontier Province, Pakistan, the tribe are also present in different areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

In Pakistan, they live in Swat, Dir, Bajour, Buner, Shangla, Haripur, Malakand agency, Dargai, Sakha Koat, Charsadda, and Umarzai (Hasht Nagar). Shalmani tribes live all over Afghanistan. They were originally brought to Swat by one of the famous Pakhtun conquerors and kings, Shahabuddin Mohammad Ghouri, from Shalman and Karman Afghanistan. But it is to be noted that the present Shalman valley in Pakistan.

Before independence of Pakistan, Bacha Khan Shalmani of Sakha Koat Malakand agency was the prominent figure of the Shilmani tribe in the region. When Nehru first came to NWFP, he was invited by Bacha Khan Shilmani to Sakha Koat to discuss some political issues faced by the British colonial government. Haji Zubair Shah(late), Mr. Naik Amal Khan Shalmani, Mr. Zeban Shah Shalmani(Late) Zeran Shah Shalmani (Late) Rahim Shah Shalmani Sakhakot Malakand Agency Sarkai Bala, Mr. Mata-Wakil Khan Shalmani (Bhama Dhera). They are politicians and landlords and belong to different political parties. In Malakand agency Mr. Mohammad Saeed Ghamgeen Shalmani is one of the famous Pakhtun poets; he belongs to Aladand Derai Batkhela Malakand agency. In Khyber agency Shalman Valley, Gran Bacha Shalmani and Habibullah Khan Shalmani are local politicians of the Shilmani tribe in their region. The most famous and holy person among the Khyber Shalmanis is Hazrat Sheikh Gul Sahib Shalmani, son of Hazrat Haji Gul (RA); he is a religious person. In Swat District,Computer Engineer Mr. Farid Shahzada Khan Shalmani of Sijban, Mohib Gul Shalmani of Pishtonai, Umar Rahim Shalmani of Bulkarai, Sayyad Ahmad Khan Shalmani of Barthana and Mr. Sayyad Kareem Khan Shalmani advocate of Mingora are serving as students of the Israeli concept of Pakhtun history.To this day, the Shilmani tribes work side by side with Pashtun tribes to serve the Pakhtun nation and all of humanity in different fields like education, economy, religion, defence and agriculture.
