Shildon railway cricket club

Shildon Railway Cricket Club currently play their league fixtures as part of the Durham County League and play their home fixtures at the BR Sportsfield and social club.
Shildon Cricket Club have quite a large squad with numerous different teams, such as, 1st team, 2nd, under 18s, 15s and 13s.
The 1st team are currently joint top of the Durham County League after succssesfully winning there opening 3 games against Brandon, Mainsforth and Crook Town.
For the 2008 season, Following the Success of last seasons professional (Wilkin Motta), he was selected to feature in the IPL (Indian Premier League) as part of the King's 11 Punjab squad.
Therefore, Shilon were then on the hunt for a new overseas professional. This came by way of Hemantha Boteju (Sri Lanka).
In his debut for the 1st team, against Crook town, he began life at Shildon with a first ball wicket, this was then followed by 4 more wickets, as well as scoring 18 not out with the bat in a comftable innings, made his overall debut a huge sucsess for the Sri Lanken.
The 2nd team have also started the season with a good run of form, winning 2 out of 3 with a squad mainly conjested with youth.
The Under 15s and 18s have also started with winning ways with wins over Langly Park, Etherly and Ushaw Moor.
