[edit] Re: From Where??

Hi. My apologies for "vandalizing" your article on George Bush the Elder. This was due to my ignorance of the correct procedures for editing things on Wikipedia. I simply had no idea that these pages were anyone's intellectual property. I know better. With regard to my contribution being "unhelpful", I really think that you need to get yourself a sense of humor. I may have mentioned Bush I's unflattering nickname - but I also remarked that it was rather cruel. Had I intended to be insulting, I would hardly have written that. Nevertheless, let me assure that I will (now that I have taken the trouble to find it out!) abide strictly by Wikipedia ettiquette from now on. Regards, Flonto Flonto 00:44, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I was alluding to the fact that the translation of the username seemd to be POOMA (both variations). Cascadia TALK| HISTORY 20:56, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fenain

I am not sure why you think Fenians came from America but maybe you should check your facts before making sweeping statements. I know full well where Fenians derived from and I can tell it was not the US. Go raibh maith agat.--Play Brian Moore 21:24, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "Ben's struck-out text" etc.

"all the points in Ben's struck-out text are true" ?? I don't see where any of my text in that discussion has been "struck out", nor have I "struck out" any text there.

Regarding "double voting" (once each from two accounts), see the comment on WP:ANI: "That's an absolute no-no." Would a user who's been active on Wikipedia for two years not know this? Pull the other one, it's got bells on. -- BenTALK/HIST 04:00, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RfC on Drudge Report

In reference to your comments on AN, I thought you might like to repeat them at the RfC I have opened on this issue. See Talk:Drudge Report#RfC: ABC claim. Thank you. - Crockspot 15:17, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Username

Oh, it's okay don't worry. Sorry for my misunderstanding as well. I occasionally contribute to Chinese Wikipedia as well, using the same name. Cheers! Wooyi 18:04, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Maria Lopardo

Hi, The page Maria Lopardo must have been deleted by any administrator just after I created Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Maria Lopardo since it was vague and nonsence. Thanks Sushant gupta 06:58, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Talk:Islamic Honorifics and Islamic Honorifics

This is totally trivial, but...

Could you look in on my question at Talk:Islamic Honorifics? I was trying to tell a user why I had reverted his changes at Muslim. In making links to encourage him to look around, I ended up at Islamic Honorifics. With the subject of PBUH in mind I couldn't immediately figure out which of those phrases PBUH could substitute for. Could you answer, or pass this on to someone else? Shenme 03:03, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

I answered your question here. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up ® 11:36, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Prod tags

How do you select user pages?

I compile a list and look. User pages with MySpace links seem particularly prone to this.

Your notes seem to emphasize that no other edits were made except to the user page. Is that the selection criterion?

A huge part, yes.

If so, why didn't it pick up User:Cptn Funk ? Or are there so many, you haven't gotten to that one yet?

There are about 1,200 User pages with MySpace links, not mention similiar numbers each for Blogspot, Geocities, Tripod, etc. I've tagged maybe 1,500 so far in the last six months, so yeah, I haven't gotten to it yet. --Calton | Talk 20:54, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Carrot / Wild carrot

Hi Shenme, I wrote my suggestion to merge the articles Carrot and Wild carrot in both discussion pages, and I wrote the references about the names "Devil's Plague and Bird's Nest Plant" in the Carrot article. Best wishes, --Ricardo Carneiro Pires 14:00, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User:Fordyz1

Stop being retarded and get the facts before you dish out warnings..stupid ass i am his friend.

Ok...my edits have been rubbish have they?

I edited the page perfect dark zero with infomation on the teams availble and how they are used. I put in the best player in the rankings.

These edits are good infomation for the people how the hell are they bad edits. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Fordyz1 (talkcontribs) 12:36, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

I believe your attitude is wrong, you and your little admin friends delete my edits, when really you shouldn't as of your intelligence does not know anything about gypys or Perfect dark zero or ralph brown and before all you know the infomation i inputed could be a vital pierce of infomation and you are deleting my edits on what you think is incorrect but you actually dont know and shouldnt be allowed to revert what you dont have alot of expertise in.

[edit] Re: Could you look in on a new user?

Hi Shenme,

Thanks very much for letting me know. He might be the sockpuppet of banned user: DavidYork71. I will look into it. Good night, Shenme. --Aminz 03:53, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Archives

Whoa. Thanks for the heads-up. I was wondering why my userpage was showing up on IRC's recent changes and not my watchlist =P --Moralis (talk) 20:28, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Brian Wilson

I just noticed the blanking while recent change patrolling. It's not a page that's on my watchlist, so I don't really know much of the backstory here. I guess it wouldn't hurt to archive it...but if they were blanking sections before they were related to the IP, I'd guess they'll still be back blanking other sections after it's archived. --Onorem 00:33, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Synthesis reversion

Hi, Shenme. I just did my first ever revert on the synthesis article, where it looks like you'd been doing some housecleaning too. If you have a chance, please let me know if I did it properly. Thanks! Claudia 21:55, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Aleister Crowley

Templates have been fixed. This is yet another reason why the Cquote template should be avoided. It has extra parameters that alter the fontsize where the appropriate template does not. Vodak 18:38, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Presidents

I realized that I was perhaps biting off more than I could chew when I recategorized all that stuff...so I hope I didn't botch it entirely. My intent was to put "president of..." categories in a category that itself could be categorized under "categories by country." (That's not at all confusing, now, is it :) So, my intent was not to delete anything, but rather to re-categorize a fairly massive chunk of categories. Regards, Paul 05:57, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Oh my goodness, I just realized that I answered a question different than the one you asked. OK, the answer you are looking for is...I removed those categories from the article because when an article has an epynomous category, the category should be categorized, not the article itself. This doesn't seem to be consistently applied and I don't think it's universally agreed upon, but it's how I tend to structure categories. Best, Paul 06:03, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Entirely gratuitous nit-picking ;-)

Point taken, but there's a lot of vandalism and there's a bit of a balance between doing it fast and doing it well. I'll try to find a good way to get more context around the planned reversion or the suspect edit. It's something I need to do anyway, some of the vandals are getting smarter, e.g. undoing 2/3rds of a series of malicious edits, so the most recent changes look positive. I missed the Beetle thing in part because I focus pretty hard on anon users when doing VP, so didn't look at a big enough context. That's not perfect, and not totally fair, but I've got to winnow wheat from chaff somehow. You've got me thinking about how I need a better tool, something I may actually be able to do something about, when I have time. Thanks. Studerby 19:24, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Thanks for understanding. Your article is a credit to the encyclopedia. It sets out Bush I's achievements without being a hagiography. Keep up the good work! Flonto 20:05, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hello Shenme

Hello to you, and thanks for your support regarding this annoying IP address. I noticed that the other IP to interfere with Dado Pršo followed the trend of the other one so it could have been the same person, only if you look at the history, our original friend has done it again today, same edit... so I am sure now that we are dealing with a disruptive user. A 20-minute block would do very little since this person tends to come once a day, and it seems that the individual concerned has little else to do except ammend that article. I can't be here 24 hours to watch over it and to the average recent-changes-patroller, it hardly looks like vandalism! Anyhow, I hope we can get this sorted out soon. An option might be to lock the page from anons, but it is a bit trivial for that. I don't mind either way. Thanks for "butting in" as you put it on Alison's page, and you are more than welcome to stay "involved"! Best regards. Evlekis 20:24, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

I don't know exactly who did what about the page, but thanks anyways. It's not always easy to tell a hoax. --Jordan Elder talk 08:26, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] SqueakBox

See here here for more personal attacks - after he called me a racist on the Falkland Islands]] talk page he is now accusing me of being motivated by hatred of British and British culture. I am starting to lose my temper to I thought I would disengage with him and ask you to step in and stop him.--Vintagekits 19:25, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] My Mistake

I simply found the earliest edit (that I could find) to be "vandalism." I must have overlooked the "older edit" button or something. --Anti Vandal Spy 00:19, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fct

I wasn't sure if it would be accepted, thought it might be deleted, but as it wasn't I thought I would try and popularize it. Ajuk 12:53, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] MetsBot bug (old?)

I went back and reviewed the archive (11) for the timeframe but didn't see any mention of this. And the above note MetsBot bug isn't quite the same thing as this. The bot changed multiple occurances of • into the "i don't understand this codepoint" box character. Is this bug fixed (since way back in early December? ;-) Shenme 20:04, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Actually, it was still a bug, until 5 minutes ago :-) —METS501 (talk) 00:51, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Great Pyramid edit

Hi-no worries, that's what it's all about. Looks fine to me as of today. Personally, I'm not really sure pyramidology is even worthy of mention, but rather than take it out I added that paragraph to distinguish as best as possible the difference in perception between that and the main core of alternative ideas outlined above. Thanks for checking the facts though! Thanos5150

[edit] Nicolaus Copernicus‎ is Polish sayeth Funny4life

I did read the discussion, what I am posting is shared by many individuals in the discussion forum. It is also supported by many sources, which have been stated many times. What you are doing by undoing my edits is changing history. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Funny4life (talkcontribs) 04:53, 9 December 2007

History is understood, and considered, and is not nearly as simple, concrete, and pleasing as you would like. Watching a argument at length about the correct name of an island based on which country (three of them!) "rightfully owned" the island, based on which chosen text/treaty was favoured, showed me POV such as this is truly wasted effort. I can't believe you have read all the archives, unless you also read only one history text, and thus ignored much of the discussions in the archives. Shenme (talk) 05:07, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

This has nothing to do with my post. No where do I post that he was of Polish ethnicity, because while it is likely, I will not argue that point with so many Neo Nazis around. I am simply stating he was Polish-Born, which is being born in territory controlled by Poland. If you choose to disagree, I feel that you should take the time and edit numerous other posts, like Maria Curie being on French people page, or article with Albert Einstein saying German-Born. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Funny4life (talkcontribs) 05:19, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
