It's a bit simplistic to classify her as a simply as a Canadian writer, although there is no doubt that most of her work was on Canadian topics. She was born in Scotland and brought up in various parts of the UK. Emigrated to Canada at the age of 33. Moved to England some time later and died (far too young) in Hampshire in England.
