[edit] Early Life and Career

Sheryn was born and raised in Carcar, Cebu to Bernardo and Daisy Regis. She is the eldest of three kids and has two siblings, Elton and Joseph. Regis' mother guided Sheryn in singing. At the age of 2, Sheryn was able to hum and sing simple tunes already, her mom recalls. Her first and favorite contest piece was Ms. Kuh Ledesma’s “Dito Ba” which Sheryn learned at the age of five. At seven, Sheryn started joining amateur singing contests, one after the other. Her winnings were used to buy tapes of Shirley Bassey’s hits for her next contest piece. And at the age of eight, Sheryn won her first grand prize for Ms. Tillie Moreno’s “Saan Ako Nagkamali?”.[2]

Aside from singing, Regis tried teaching voice lessons to children while in high school. In her college years, Sheryn was able to finish her B.S. Secondary Education, Major in English in Cebu Normal University. It was during these years too that she was exposed to theater acting and chorale singing. It gave her a chance to travel abroad and to perform to Filipino communities in Canada and in the USA. They had Mr. Leo Martinez and Ms. Gina Alajar as workshop mentors. In 1999, she was awarded as the Best Interpreter in the Cebu Pop Music Festival (a songwriting festival) and the original composition that she sang also won the Grand Prize.

Regis worked as a lounge singer in Cebu Plaza Hotel where she met Earl Echiverri (couzin of Caloocan City mayor Enrico "Recom" Echiverri) and in 2002, they exchanged vows and had a daughter nicknamed “Sweetie” the following year.

In 2003, Regis entered ABS-CBN’s Star in a Million. She was the consistent top finalist, but ended up as the first runner-up and texter’s choice awardee. After this, Regis went back to Cebu, and was later offered a recording contract by ABS-CBN and another recording company. She accepted ABS-CBN’s offer. And doing good in the recording and in Philippine music industry.Have been touring abroad recently.

[edit] Come In Out of the Rain

Her debut single, “Come In Out of the Rain”, was a consistent hit in radio charts. Her multi-platinum debut album under Star Records bearing the same title was released in April 2004.[3] From the said album also comes the theme song of the hit fantaserye, Marina, entitled “Kailan Kaya” written by Cacai Velasquez-Mitra and Raul Mitra.

[edit] What I Do Best

In July of 2005, Sheryn launched her second album entitled "Sheryn Regis, What I Do Best."

She is the voice behind the song “Sabihin Mo Sa Akin”, the theme from ABS-CBN’s fantaserye, Kampanerang Kuba which starred Anne Curtis. Her song "Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka" was chosen to be the love theme song of Kristine Hermosa's teleserye Gulong ng Palad.

Sheryn's "Dahil Nagmamahal" was chosen as the theme song of Bernadette Sembrano's Nagmamahal, Kapamilya.

Later on, her second album reached gold status.

[edit] The Modern Jukebox Collection

On October 2006, Sheryn began recording for her third album under Star Records. The album was set to release on November 20, 2006. Her first single off the album was a cover of a Leah Navarro original, Ang Pag-Ibig Kong Ito.

Sheryn's remake of Joey Albert's I Remember the Boy was chosen as Jasmine's Theme Song for ABS-CBN's teleserye featuring Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson entitled Sana Maulit Muli. She also sang the theme song of the teleserye, Maria Flordeluna.

She later launched her second official single from the album, a song penned by Ricky Sanchez entitled Ang Lahat Para Sa'yo, while her self-composition, Pusong Lito, enjoyed frequent airplay in provincial radio stations and was chosen as the theme song of ABS-CBN Cebu's teleserye entitled Summer Sunshine.

Early 2008, Sheryn released her third and final single from the album, Sayang na Sayang, a cover of the Manilyn Reynes original. By end of February, the music video for the single was shot with her Love Spell co-star and Be Bench finalist, John James Uy, as the leading man.

[edit] Starting Over Again

During the release of her third single from her jukebox album, Sheryn started hinting the public of an upcoming fourth album with a tentative June release. Due to the disappointing performance of Sheryn's third album, Star Records decided to revert back to the genre of songs similar to those from her first two albums. It was also during the planning stages of her fourth album that Sheryn became part of Star Magic, the talent management arm of her mother station, ABS-CBN.

The album, aptly entitled Starting Over Again, released its first single bearing the same title, a Natalie Cole original, during the final week of May. The album contains seven revivals and three originals. Sheryn, along with her husband, penned an English original entitled My Heart Beats for You. Anabelle Regalado, managing director of Star Records, also contributed a Tagalog original entitled Sana Nandito Ka. Vehnee Saturno, who is also one of the composers on the album with his song Patunayan Mo, was also its producer. This is the first time that one of Sheryn's albums was produced by somebody other than producer Jonathan Manalo.

[edit] Theme Songs

Apart from the theme songs showcased in her albums, Sheryn has also recorded the theme songs of other ABS-CBN shows and divisions. Immediately after her Star in a Million stint, Sheryn was tapped to sing the station ID of ABS-CBN's regional division entitled Sabay Tayo Pilipinas. Soon after, Sheryn was also the voice behind the theme songs of Star Circle Quest with Marinel Santos and Nginiiig! with Gloc 9.

To add to her list of theme songs to date, Sheryn was chosen to revive Kuh Ledesma's Dito Ba on October 2007 as the theme song of ABS-CBN's teleserye featuring Kristine Hermosa and Angelika dela Cruz entitled Prinsesa ng Banyera.

In early 2008, Sheryn was chosen to cover Regine Velasquez's Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw for the official soundtrack of Maging Sino Ka Man: Ang Pagbabalik.

Her second single "Ang Lahat Para Sa'yo" was chosen again as the themesong of El Cuerpo del Deseo as shown in ABS-CBN, after being played as the love theme song of Natutulog Ba ang Diyos. In April of the same year, Sheryn's third single "Sayang na Sayang" was featured in Your Song starring Matt Evans and Melissa Ricks.

Her self-composition entitled "Pusong Lito" was rewritten and rearranged for Kim Chiu as a part of the official soundtrack of the Philippine version of My Girl.

[edit] Media Appearances

Sheryn has become part of different variety shows, including MTB, Most Requested Show, Wowowee, and ASAP '07. She was chosen by Mr. Vehnee Saturno to represent the Philippines in the 2004 Voice of Asia Song Festival held in Kazakhstan where she won Second Prize.

Sheryn hosted the now-defunct Search for the Star in a Million Season 2 with fellow champs Erik, Rachelle Ann, and Mark. She is also the host of Little Big Star Cebu, which was reportedly ranked as the fourth top-rating show in ABS-CBN's Nationwide Charts.

During her birthday concert held at the SM Centerstage, Sheryn announced the founding of her very own organization, Little Voices Foundation, established to help provide education for the less-fortunate children.

In October 2007, Sheryn was given her first major dual acting role as a fairy godmother and an evil witch who are twin sisters in Love Spell's Cindyrella, starring Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson. Sheryn expressed her excitement as she is given the opportunity to dabble into acting and use her past experience in theater. The series ran through early January 2008.[4]

Early 2008, Sheryn Regis was chosen to be part of the cast of Utoy with Dolphy and Makisig Morales as main stars.

Sheryn is currently a mainstay in ASAP '08.
