Sherkot is located at 29.35° N 78.58° E[1]. It has an average elevation of 203 metres (666 feet). Famed localities are, Tarai, Shekhan, Nondhna, Kho Bairaz, afganan, kaziyan Khurara.

As of 2001 India census[2], Sherkot had a population of 52,870. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%.
