Sheriff (manufacturer)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sheriff is an airsoft manufacturer based out of Osaka, Japan. While best known today for specializing in the construction of custom parts for the Western Arms series of Colt 1911 based airsoft guns, Sheriff also produces complete airsoft guns, though currently this is limited to replicas of the Remington M700 and Remington M40A1 bolt action rifles, both based on the Maruzen derived APS-2 mechanism. Previously, Sheriff was a prolific manufacturer of gas powered airsoft guns during the classic airsoft period of the late 1980's and early 1990's. Some of the replicas produced were:

-Frachi SPAS 12 "full auto" type
-Frachi Spas 12 "three shot" type
-AK-47 "Dangerous AK"
-Magnum Power M16 series: This included heavy barreled versions of the M16A1, M653, M633, and AR-15A1 HBAR. Only 500 of each model were made.
-Colt M635 9mm SMG (only 50 such specimens made)
-Highlander Magnum (only 25 specimens made)

In addition, Sheriff also developed the L.R.B. (Long Range Barrel) hop-up system.

Currently, Sheriff have adapted their airsoft technology into self defense tools, producing the MarkPet- A laser aimed, single shot paint launcher used to mark assailants for easy apprehension by authorities.
