Shenandoah is a city in Montgomery County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,503 at the 2000 census. David Vetter, the famous "boy in the plastic bubble", was from Shenandoah.[3]

Shenandoah is located at 30°10′47″N, 95°27′19″W (30.179855, -95.455175)[4]. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.3 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,503 people, 504 households, and 441 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,191.1 people per square mile (460.6/km²). There were 532 housing units at an average density of 421.6/sq mi (163.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 94.21% White, 1.13% African American, 0.60% Native American, 1.20% Asian, 1.33% from other races, and 1.53% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 7.32% of the population.

There were 504 households out of which 36.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 78.8% were married couples living together, 7.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 12.5% were non-families. 11.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.96 and the average family size was 3.17.

In the city the population was spread out with 26.5% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 27.0% from 25 to 44, 32.0% from 45 to 64, and 8.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 95.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.0 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $72,813, and the median income for a family was $76,116. Males had a median income of $51,250 versus $30,966 for females. The per capita income for the city was $26,421. About 1.8% of families and 3.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 4.4% of those under age 18 and 2.9% of those age 65 or over.

Shenandoah is served by the Conroe Independent School District.

Areas of Shenandoah attend Lamar Elementary. After this they choose either Oak Ridge side or The Woodlands side. If Oak Ridge is decided on they go to Vogel Intermediate School, York Junior High School, and Oak Ridge High School. (east of [[Interstate 45). If The Woodlands is decided on they go to Wilkerson Intermediate, Knox Junior High School and College Park High School. (West of Interstate 45)

Shenandoah is also served by Lone Star College (North Harris Montgomery Community College District)
