Sheikh Zayed Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It is currently used mostly for cricket matches. The $2.5 million Zayed stadium can accommodate 16,000 spectators and opened its gates to the public in 2004. [1].

[edit] Friendship Series (Pakistan vs India)

One of the more memorable events at the stadium were the two, back-to-back charity matches between cricketing rivals Pakistan and India, in April 2006. The two teams put aside their differences in support for the 2005 Pakistan earthquake (October 2005) victims. The series was titled the "Friendship Series". The series was expected to raise $10 million for the earthquake relief. "Of the total money raised, 75 per cent will go Pakistan and the rest to India," B.R. Shetty, of the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council, said. [2].
