[edit] Misunderstanding

Hi there, i made the recent edits to the vegan nutrition, and i'm just specifying why i'm reverting nthe changes you've made as to avoid controversy via administrators. You will have to forgive me i nthe first instance, though - it may have been through my wording that i may have made it difficult to interpret, but here goes;

In particular, balance is particularly important for vegans because of the inheirant lack of protein sources from non-specific foods obtained through normal vegetables or non-meat dishes.

[edit] "Non-Specific Foods"

By this, i mean through normal meals, For instance, even through vegetables listed on the Five-a-Day scheme, or within a meal which contains several sources, you could still wind up with protein deficiency if things are not in the correct amounts (but it's most likely because potatoes and carrots dont have good amounts of protein). For example, i refer to when, of course, ther eare those who do not eat meat, but have ill-advised meals in regards to what they eat; eating maily vegetable sources such as potatoes, carrots, and "standard" vegetables, which are not usually included within normally prepared meals.

For instance, Lysine, and Isoleucine are minerals, which can contribute to deficiency in Macronutrients if legumes, lima beans, lentils, or chick peas are not present within the diet. These particular foods, which , as i am correct in assuming; are listed within the "specialist" or "organic" section within supermarkets or grocers, and are also foods listed in "health food stores".

The point which i was trying to make was that Vegans who do not attain correct dietary advice, and pursue a route whereby they eat vegetables which contain minimal amounts of protein as well as neglect to monitor protein intake; Can lead to protein deficiency.

If you want to drop me a message on how i could re-word or rephrase this paragraph better, then please drop me a message, and i'd gladly change it - although i did actually explain part of this at the end :-). Thank you for posting reasoning on the talk page, and hopefully we can resolve this issue.

You are correct that Legumes, and soforth should be well known by Vegans. However, it is true to say that in my experience, i have seen many practicing-vegans, who have somewhat of a maligned view; that a Vegan is someone who eats njothing but vegetables - and the rest sorts itself out.
It's strange, i know - but many patients i've given dietary advice to have come into this problem because they've got the wrong idea about dietary and nutritional requirements; that is in essence why i wished to add such information into the vegan nutrition article.
Cheers :-)

Don't worry about it! There's usually a multitude of ways to say the same thing - just make sure that it's succinct, to the point and keeps the information; then you'll be fine. Spum 13:47, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
