[edit] Request for Unblocking

This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | rangeblocks | unblock | contribs | deleted contribs) has asked to be unblocked, but an administrator has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock request while you are blocked.

Request reason: "Hello. I am Shapiros10, and I would like to request to be unblocked. I acknowledge that I have operated sockpuppets. It was a mistake to do so. I must say now, that I have put socking, trolling and testing behind me. This will never happen again. I would like my old user name Shapiros10 to be unblocked. I made many positive contributions with and i would like to simply go back to it. I am sincerely sorry if I have wasted your time. I only want what is best for the wiki. Thanks for understanding. Shapiros10 speaking from his heart: yes, I have realized what I have done. I have realized that I have caused disruption. Please, when you review this case, remember that blocking is supposed to prevent damage, not to punish the user. Also, please remember that 6 months is a long time for a 12-year old to be blocked, especially for one who made a very poor lapse in judgement. I am hoping the best but expecting the worst here. I have been criticized for changing my unblock-en-l message after being advised by an administrator. The unblock-en-l administrator has made a point of saying that a positive CheckUser somewhat nullifies (correct me if I'm wrong) good faith. If you choose to leave me blocked, I praise your decsion. Either way, if you are reviewing this case, you are a good administrator for simply taking the time to do so. Thank you. Shapiros10WuzHere 23:26, 23 May 2008 (UTC)"

Decline reason: "Please be patient. This is being discussed on ANI. If you want to comment on the discussion there, post your responses here and I or someone else will copy them to ANI for you. (And yes, I will correct you - I've never said or thought that checkuser nulifies anything, much less good faith, and I don't believe Shell or any of the other admins who have looked at your case have said this either.) — Sarah 00:09, 24 May 2008 (UTC)"

Please make any further unblock requests by using the {{unblock}} template. However, abuse of the template may result in your talk page being protected.

My apologies. my comment for ANI is, "I agree to this proposed 'mentorship' but I have a couple of questions about it: is it going through WP:ADOPT all over again? And if I have a year or two of good editing showing that i have learned from my mistakes, will I ever be able to become an admin?" Shapiros10 is being discussed on ANI :( 00:25, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
By mentorship, I mean continuing to work with Amire (or someone else if he doesn't want to do it), he would just help you along, keep an eye out that you aren't going off the rails again, give you advice when you need it, and so forth. Yes, you would be able to become an admin eventually. There are admins who had been blocked previously. So, yes, it is possible if you work hard and show that you have changed and learned from your past mistakes. Sarah 00:43, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you, Sarah. I will try to contact him in the morning (Eastern Standard Time) about this mentoring. I think he'll probably agree to it. I would ask you, but I'm probably driving you crazy as is. Will the official reinstatement of editing privileges come when Amir officially agrees to be my mentor?
I didn't know that people with blocks would become admins. I envisioned voters going, "Oh, he was blocked! Oppose!" I actually had hopes, but I'm probably boring you to tears right now. Shapiros10 is being discussed on ANI :( 00:47, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, a few more people might comment and the checkuser might comment too and then if no one has any problems an uninvolved admin will close the discussion and probably unblock you. Be patient, though, as it might not happen quickly. I'm sure some people would oppose an RfA like that but there are people who have become admins after being blocked early in their wiki-career and if you proved yourself to the community and show that you've grown up and made amends for your earlier mistakes it would be possible. But I wouldn't recommend you try an RfA for a long time now. Best focus on restoring your reputation and doing good work first. Sarah 01:02, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Once again, thank you. During my block, I made a list pf standards for me becoming an admin, one of which was waiting one year until I became unblocked. Crap! Shapiros10 forgot to sign this message! He is mentally shastising himself right now! Don't expect a relapse.
A year sounds good. That's plenty of time to redeem yourself in the eyes of the community. What were your other standards? By the way, you mentioned above about me mentoring you, I would offer to do so, but most of my wiki work is off-Wiki at the moment and I don't get time to do that much editing at the moment so I don't think I'm around enough to be a mentor. I wouldn't mind helping you if I am around, though, so you can always email me or come by my talk page if you have questions or need help with something but I think Amire should be your primary mentor since he has been mentoring you anyway and seems to believe in you quite strongly. Sarah 01:47, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
After all we've been through, of course i agree to mentor Samuel.
Is there anything more to be done before the block is lifted? --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 06:58, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes. Although, Sarah says to wait for a few more people (including Dmcdevit) to comment, then have an admin uninvolved with the case come and do the honors. BTW, could you give him a ping? MBisanz suggested it yesterday, and nobody's done anything. Shapiros10 is being discussed on ANI :( 10:43, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
