[edit] Chto Ne Khvataet

I agree with x being transliterated Kh, though what would you prefer? Khvataet or Khvatayet? I'd rather stay with the latter because i've seen "e" be transliterated as ye when it's intervocalic, but I'd like to know what you think, since you probably understand Russian/cyrillic more than i do ^_^. --Sergio Á. 23:12, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] unter null

The contents of your unter null page is very similar to the text found on, say, http://www.alfa-matrix.com/bio_unternull.php and various other places on the web. That makes it a copyright violation (and unless it is rewritten it will very likely be deleted as such), but it also reads more like a marketing blurb than an encyclopaedia article. I think you should consider revising it. u p p l a n d 05:22, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

I replied to you on my talkpage. u p p l a n d 05:21, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Endzeit Bunkertracks

The problem is, I believe, with Wikipedia's search function, which is apparently slow to update (I don't rememmber where I read that, but I saw it somewhere). You might as well use Google (including the word "wikipedia" or site:.wikipedia.org in the search). u p p l a n d 16:23, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tatu

I know little about the Russian duo (I know they exist but not much more) and I have never before heard of the "Japanese Rope Artist" who is now at Tatu, so I don't really feel inclined to have an opinion on this. u p p l a n d 18:22, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Your recent edit to Tatu was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to recognize and repair vandalism to Wikipedia articles. If the bot reverted a legitimate edit, please accept my humble creator's apologies – if you bring it to the attention of the bot's owner, we may be able to improve its behavior. Click here for frequently asked questions about the bot and this warning. // Tawkerbot2 20:24, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Actually, when thinking a little more about it, with the number of meanings that exist, it seems reasonable to have a disambiguation page at Tatu. I would suggest that you initiate a discussion at Wikipedia:Requested moves. (Moving an article through the cutting and pasting of text is not allowed, as it breaks up the history of the article and is not in accordance with the GFDL.) u p p l a n d 20:33, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
Please note that I did not write anything about vandalism. The bot (Tawkerbot2) above my message did (and as it is a bot, it picks up edits that look like vandalism, according to various algorithms, without actually being able to make any judgment with regard to the larger context).
Perhaps you should nominate the rope porn guy for deletion. As I said, I haven't heard of him; that doesn't necessarily mean that he isn't notable, but I can't tell. If you will do a bit of research and convince yourself that he is truly non-notable, I would suggest that you make a nomination on AfD and argue your case (please don't just write "Non-notable. Delete." as you may see people do in some nominations, as that is a bad practice). If you feel that a nomination for deletion is inappropriate (if he turns out to be at least borderline notable after all), I would suggest that you write a note on WP:AN/I and ask for help in handling the other user. u p p l a n d 20:52, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rope bondage horror POV shock sensation!

Hi. In this recent edit, you stuck a badly needed CLEANUP template on shibari and you also stuck a POV template on it. I don't know if it's POV or OR, because I don't know anything about it and I'm not going to follow up the links -- not because I'm squeamish but because (a) I'm not interested and (b) I'm editing from work and I'm sure the guys who track my web movements would find these particularly amusing. On the article's talk page, the (self-proclaimed!) author (owner?) of the article asks why, as of course he has a right to do. I think you should explain.

No need to reply on my own page; just write something on that one. Thanks. -- Hoary 06:06, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

PS aha, I've found that the page on Japanese bondage is explictly about shibari. I've therefore redirected Shibari to it. (Hm, since I'm doing this from my office, I wonder what the IT people make of the log of which URLs I'm accessing.) -- Hoary 07:50, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

PPS when I wrote the "PS" I should also have struck out the earlier message, whose request the PS renders unnecessary. I'm therefore remedying this right now. -- Hoary 00:43, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] endzeit

that is quite understandable, but i don't think alfa matrix is having much trouble getting the word out :) Dr. Ke 20:35, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] x64 features in Windows Vista

Hi. Thanks for pointing out the missed text. But in such a case, its better not to add placeholder text to the article (as you did), it makes the article look ugly. Instead inform the user who made the edits on his/her talk page (in case you cant fix the mistake yourself). This will enusre quicker response. I guess it isn't really necessary, but there's no reason not to mention it (and some people can be amazingly blind to the obvious, "why hasn't mine got that white patch on?"!). The original caption was as given by the person who first uploaded the pic. - MPF 10:34, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Disambig pages

Hi, i've just edited SE to make it more closely match the guidelines at WP:MOSDAB and WP:DAB. You might find these pages a worthwile read, thanks/L/wangi 03:14, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] VX disambiguation

Regarding your reversion to the VX redirect, perhaps we're going about this the wrong way. The stardard for two-letter acronyms is to have the disambig page exist at that page (compare VG, VE, and VM) and label it with the {{2LCdisambig}}. As this is the de facto standard, I think it would be best if implemented that. :) Cheers! – ClockworkSoul 13:57, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Most are, but many are not. I cannot accept "it's too tedious" as a reason. Besides, take a look at the "what links here" for VX itself. As you can see, I've already done all of the disambiguation. :) – ClockworkSoul 14:07, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
    • But they dont redirect at all, because I've already done all the disambiguation work myself (take a look for yourself :) ). Everything that should go to VX (nerve agent) already does so, and likewise with VX (band), VX (software company), Aces, and V speeds. Really, there is no longer any reason not to change VX to conform to the standard. – ClockworkSoul 14:48, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
      • It was actually very easy: I use navigation popups, which provides the capability to disambiguate links very easily. – ClockworkSoul 18:53, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Copy and paste moves are evil

Please do not do copy and paste moves. If you wish to rename a page, do it properly. Uncle G 02:26, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Disambig pages

To see why your revert was reverted on VX, see the standards at Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages). Rmhermen 01:38, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Yes, please read the guideline before reverting again. Disambiguation pages are meant to disambiguate the title term only, not to be a collection of related and links. If you don't like it, please discuss at the MOS page, but don't fight consensus on individual disambiguation pages. Michael Z. 2006-08-03 06:22 Z

[edit] Warcraft AfDs

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Garona_Halforcen.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Garona_Halforcen.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 21:53, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] copyvio contribution to Ne Zhaley

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the Ne Zhaley article, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later."

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here. You can also leave a message on my talk page. -- Mikeblas 15:43, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Huldra_kjossfossen.jpg

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Huldra_kjossfossen.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 20:13, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Silvermoon.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Silvermoon.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:35, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Region Guadeloupe.svg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Region Guadeloupe.svg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

[edit] Image source problem with Image:WoW Box Art1.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:WoW Box Art1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:13, 7 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. KipSmithers T/C 02:13, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Question

How do you add a comment when you upload an image to Commons?

I'm sorry I don't quite understand what you mean, could you try and explain it again ? > Rugby471 talk 15:42, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

I mean...in the version history of a file you can see a table, where one column is called "Comment", how do you add it? For example, that Pakistan emblem, the comment is "text". Hope you understand what I mean. --Shandristhe azylean 19:09, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

When you go to upload a new version of an image, it gives you the 'Summary' box, in this box, you don't need to put what is already on the page (eg. the licensing, description etc. (as you did on the Pakistan emblem image) ), all you need to put is 'text' and it will display text. I hope that explains it. > Rugby471 talk 18:08, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Redirect of The Exodar

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on The Exodar, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because The Exodar is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting The Exodar, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Hi Shandris,

It is a convention on the English Wikipedia NOT to link the destinations in airline/destination lists in airport articles. May I refer to all other airport articles here. Please do not link the destinations at the article about Bonriki International Airport anymore. Thank you.
