Supporting indef block

Next time be a bit more careful please when voting for deletion of a user. You can read my talk page and decide for yourself if Tankred's 'evidence' is so strong. Squash Racket 06:52, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
"Unfortunately, checkuser cannot be used in this case because VinceB's log is no longer stored." Quote from Tankred, you missed it[1]? Squash Racket 07:21, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

I still believe that Squash Racket is a sockpuppet of VinceB and I consider his unblock on probation[2] by Then Random Editor a mistake. Thank you for not letting it go, although a new checkuser probably cannot bring any new evidence. Tankred 15:36, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Bill Goddard article already exists

Hi Shalom, I just wanted to let you know that your article on Bill Goddard already exists as William A. Goddard, III. Can you port your information over and redirect the page? Thanks! --mikexstudios 03:19, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I will do that. Shalom (HelloPeace) 12:43, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Life of the Mind‎ AFD

Thank you for trying to help improve Wikipedia. However, I recently found one of your articles for deletion nomination reasons potentially inflammatory and/or insulting to other editors. Keep in mind that these comments may be considered a personal attack on the page's creator or the other editors which might have contributed to the page; moreover, it could be seen as disruptive. Please try to keep AFD nomination reasons simple and guideline/policy-based. Thanks a million. =) --slakrtalk / 03:20, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

I attack the content, not the creator of the content. The distinction is subtle but important. I never called the author an idiot, and I never would do so. I just thought the article was poorly conceived and poorly written. Shalom (HelloPeace) 12:42, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! :D

Thanks Shalom Yechiel/Archives/October 2007

Deletion of Audio Products, Inc. as a

The name for Automated Processes for many years until very recently was Audio Products,Inc. Reformed under President Paul Wolfe. If you are going to include the name of the company in the 60's and the very recently renamed company Automated Processes, Inc. You should include the name it held for all the inbetween years "Audio Products, Inc." s alot of their equipment was sold under that name. I worked for them for years.

http://www.apiaudio.com/

Now it has been renamed back to it's famous name Automated Processes Inc but was Audio Products, Inc. (it was ATI's aquisition that caused the current changes)....

I wanted the disambiguation becuase many people would be confused if they saw all the studio recording consoles sold under the, 80's, 90's name of the company: Audio Products, Inc. in an article. Don't take my word for it. Feel free to contact the chief engineer of API, he would verify this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.75.24.207 (talk) 18:21, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

I added the old name to the article Automated Processes Inc.. You may edit the disambiguation page to note the relationship between the old name and the new name, but please use only internal wiki-links on disambiguation pages. Shalom (HelloPeace) 18:32, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

api?

In followup to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/API_%28disambiguation%29

On my edits to the disambiguation of API, I am sorry. I am probably an idiot newbee who does not understand the rules, and maybe I am supposed to ask permission before editing. My reason for editing the page, however is pure and true, however.

Can there somehow be included as a disambiguation on the API acornymn page a reference to Audio Products, Inc and name that the famous studio recording console company held for many interim years?

Especially in light of having it's newer name of Automated Processes, Inc being a throughback to it's former name in the 60's of Automated Processes? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.75.24.207 (talk) 18:57, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes. I'll set up a redirect. That way, both the old name and the new name will point to the same article. Shalom (HelloPeace) 19:00, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

I am not sure how to say Thank you. Hopefully this works.... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.75.24.207 (talk) 19:01, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Help with Aziridine

I'm having difficulty adding the chembox template to aziridine. Could someone who has experience with templates please troubleshoot the problem and make the template transclude correctly? Thank you. Shalom (HelloPeace) 17:56, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

I just looked and it looks fine to me. Are you still having some sort of problem? If so, try using the helpdesk. - Rjd0060 18:40, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
No, I was able to fix it myself after I posted the request. Thanks for stopping to help. Shalom (HelloPeace) 18:54, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
Great. No problem. - Rjd0060 19:15, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Editor review

Hi Shalom. Since the page and not just my entry seems rather quiet, I'm wondering if it is considered poor etiquette (if not canvassing) for me to invite selected individuals to give me a review. Also, I don't suppose there's a list of potential reviewers, like the list of potential mentors, etc? In any case, thanks for all the work you've put into the review efforts. L'hitraot, HG | Talk 22:07, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks so very much for the review, and the kind comments. I appreciate your taking the time and, if it's ok, maybe I'll leave it up to see if I can elicit some additional perspectives. Take care, HG | Talk 19:40, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

My recent RfA

Thank you for supporting my RfA, which unfortunately didn't succeed. The majority of the opposes stated that I needed more experience in the main namespace and Wikipedia namespace, so that is what I will do. I will go for another RfA in two month's time and I hope you will be able to support me then as well. If you have any other comments for me or wish to be notified when I go for another RfA, please leave them on my talk page. If you wish to nominate me for my next RfA, please wait until it has been two months. Thanks again for participating in my RfA! -- Cobi(t|c|b|cn) 02:01, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

I apologize

Between December 14, 2005 and June 7, 2007, I vandalized Wikipedia under my previous username (YechielMan) and under various IP addresses and alternate accounts.

I recently reviewed the contribution logs of all the accounts and IP addresses that I can recall having used. My goal was to identify all of the intentionally harmful edits I caused, and to apologize to the individual users who reverted those edits, or warned me, or blocked me.

Hence, I apologize to you and to all of the following users:

Adam Bishop, Amarkov, Antandrus, AntiVandalBot, Bdj (Badlydrawnjeff), Conk 9, CanbekEsen, DLand, Downwards, Eagle 101, Ericbronder, Gogo Dodo, High on a tree, Hut 8.5, Interiot, Jayjg, Jrwallac, Kingboyk, Kuru, Noclip, Patrick Berry, PFHLai, PhantomS, Pollinator, Rachack, Ranma9617, Rx StrangeLove, SlimVirgin, Tfrogner, TommyBoy, Vary, Woohookitty, Zzuuzz, and some anonymous IPs. (I also reverted one edit myself after it went unnoticed for three weeks.)

Thank you for maintaining the integrity of Wikipedia against everyone who has attacked it, including my old self.

If you wish to respond, please do so at my talk page.

Best regards, Shalom (HelloPeace) 19:26, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Why thank you! That is much appreciated. --WoohookittyWoohoo! 04:43, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. Wasn't sure how the policy applied to user pages and user sub-pages, but your response helped. I'll definitely take your suggestion; I've already added the {{user sandbox}} template as well, so between them it should not be a problem. Cheerio!    ¥    Jacky Tar  21:32, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

RfA

Dearest Supporter,

Thank you for your participation in my RFA, which closed unsuccessfully with 39 supports, 15 oppose, and 1 neutral. I would have liked to gain some experience of being an admin, but it wasn't to be. At least I gained some valuable time there and will use my knowledge picked up to my next candidacy. I would like to say once again, thank you for voting and I hope to see you at my next request be it a nomination or self-induced, I hope I don't get as many questions!

Suggestion

Hello, Shalom. I'd like to suggest not using edit summaries like this, because it is not a good idea to insult vandals. Thanks, and happy editing! Cheers,JetLover (Report a mistake) 02:22, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

This is a good point. I briefly lost my temper after reverting one too many bad edits, but I should not have responded like that. A mitigating factor was the fact that the vandal probably did not read the edit summary, so he wasn't actually the recipient of anything other than a plain warning on his talk page. Shalom (HelloPeace) 15:38, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
It's OK, thanks, and happy editing! Cheers,JetLover (Report a mistake) 23:28, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Message from Apelbaum

Hi Shalom,

Please do not delete Jacob Apelbaum's page. He is a well published technology author and an inventor of number of patents in wide use (including: VOIP, security, and financial systems. ) and a well known engineer. Over the next few days several individuals will be uploading publicly relevant information regarding Apelbaum’s:

+ Books in print and articles
+ publically available Patent information
+ Public media coverage and interviews
+ Media coverage of projects

Thanks,

Honour & Passion

What kind of evidence do I need to offer to show that ColourWolf & Co. are inserting bogus contents? I offered links to the final episode of the show on YouTube, and someone refused to recognize it! Arbiteroftruth 21:34, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

My ER

Thanks for reviewing me again, I went on break for a few days, so I didn't get it right away. Yeah, there were a couple times when I almost nominated myself, but I saw a few RfAs snow-close because the user had less than 3k edits. So I asked User:Ryan Postlethwaite to coach me for a while, so even if my count isn't something to brag about, I will get some good experience. I'll also give AfC a try. Thanks again! Aquila Legis

I saw the comment you added to Aquila Legis. I think it unlikely to be a copy-vio since I couldn't find any of the 4 phrases I picked at random from the first paragraph anywhere on Google. pages for Philippine fraternities and sororities are generally not well maintained. Not sure what else to say though.Naraht 14:57, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

RfA thank-spam

Thank you!
Thank you for your help in my RfA. It hammered home a few things I need to keep in mind while admining and passed with a final tally of 40/0/4; two people forgot to vote in time, leaving me short of that exquisite number :-(, but I'll just have to fudge the next vote about me. Adminship feels slightly august but not particularily exalted, so I shall endeavour to consider it a toolkit and make sincere efforts to know what I'm doing before using it.
