Speedy deletion of 12-crown-4

A tag has been placed on 12-crown-4, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Removed comments on level of support for evolution

All I meant to do was to add a comment, I certainly didn't try to do anything to the other comments except read them. If you've any idea why/how I managed to delete such a large proportion of the talk page, and how I can avoid it in future, I'd be very grateful. If not, my apologies anyway. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jasonisme (talkcontribs) 20:38, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Edit conflict about ten seconds ago

About a minute ago, we got into an "edit conflict," meaning we both wanted to make the same edit. That was adding the unreferenced cleanup template. In future, I do suggest that you date them by: {{unref|date=February 2008}}. Cheers, Basketballone10 03:45, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Israeli roads

Hi, thank you very much for creating a multitude of articles on Israeli roads and highways, and I hope you continue to do this until you cover all of Israel's notable roads. I am writing this to ask you to please create at least 2 redirects for every road article you create - if the article is called Highway X (Israel), you should create a redirect from Road X (Israel) and Route X (Israel), at the very least. I am working on creating such redirects for the existing articles. Again, thank you for your contributions! -- Ynhockey (Talk) 18:21, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Good advice. I will do that. I also need to create links from disambiguation pages. Shalom (HelloPeace) 18:22, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Help for image uploads

{{helpme}}

I want to create image redirects for the Israeli highways. These are typically in the form Image:ISR-HW99.png in Hebrew but Image:ISR-HW99.PNG in English. When I translate articles from Hebrew to English, the images do not translate.

I could download the images to my computer and upload them to Commons, but I don't know how to do that. If a redirect could be created, that would be easier. I'd still like to know how to upload images from local Wikipedia to Commons. Shalom (HelloPeace) 14:51, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry, you will have to upload the pictures to commons. It is very easy, because commons is self explaining.--Thw1309 (talk) 16:20, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for the edit. That's what I get for editing very quickly without double checking.. well it's either that or I R STOOPID.. and I'd like to think I was just hurried ;) SirFozzie (talk) 02:57, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Ethanol: Primary alcohol defn

When I added the defn of primary alcohol to the ethanol article, I put "at least two hydrogens" because I wanted to include methanol as a primary alcohol. Are there some chem texts that classify methanol as special (i.e., not primary, secondary, or tertiary)? I'll not be the one to put back the "at least," but please do consider my reasoning for having worded it that way in the first place, and then decide for yourself. Karl Hahn (T) (C) 15:17, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

I found conflicting points of view for this on the web when I searched on Google just now. Chemguide.co.uk explicitly states that methanol is a primary alcohol, but Britannica Online says that the carbon atom in a primary alcohol is bonded to "only one" other carbon atom. Since it's not clear, I'll give priority to the prior version, and I will revert my edit. Shalom (HelloPeace) 17:03, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
The chem texts I have are unclear as well. Morrison and Boyd, for example, where they list primary alcohols, I think methanol is on the list, but later where they discuss halogenation reaction rates, they give the comparison of "methanol < primary < secondary < tertiary", suggesting that methanol is in a class by itself. And thanks for the tip on changing user name. I'll look into it. Karl Hahn (T) (C) 17:16, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Redirect of Korzim

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Korzim, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Korzim is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Korzim, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. OhanaUnited's RFA

Archtransit

If Unrepentant Vandal on WR = Archtransit, I'll be very disappointed. Arch, to be quite frank, was caught red handed with damning CU evidence. UV seems to be very smart, claiming to have evaded CU by using his alleged three accounts on separate IPs that wouldn't trace back to him. If it turns out that he was, in fact, sockpuppeting that was easily traced...huh, so much for my awe as his bragging. hbdragon88 (talk) 06:35, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure about this. If I had to flip a coin, I'd say that Archtransit is probably not Unrepentant Vandal. But I wanted to raise the issue, especially since Archtransit explicitly claimed to have another admin account (though he may have just been trolling). Undoing of Entry Swansea Massachusetts page.

To who it may concern,

My name is Randy Blake II and my name was submitted as a notable resident to the Town Of Swansea page where I have been a resident since 1973. I am the founding member of the Heavy Metal band BRIAR ROSE that has been recording and touring internationally since 1988. We are listed in three industry encyclopedia that are listed on our band profile and our tours were covered by the regional news media The Spectator newspaper of Somerset, Massachusetts The Providence Journal of Providence Rhode Island, The Fall River Herald News of Fall River Massachusetts and most recently as we are entering into our 20th year professionally and it was covered by The Spectator of Somerset Massachusetts and The Swansea News of Swansea. We are as well listed in three Rockdetector Encyclopedia as well as their on line database that can be accessed through our MySpace profile. As I realize you must get quite a few people trying to sneak things in, I do not feel that my inclusion as a "notable" resident to Swansea's history as being without merit. I have, as well as those in the band, have worked EXTREMELY hard to have survived this long in the music business and as far as musical entertainment goes, we put Swansea on the map as it were. To remain 20 years in ANY entertainment feild is an accomplishment. I love and support my home town and I do feel that my inclusion is legitimate and with merit. I ask that you reconsider and re-instate the entry of my name as a "Notable" resident of Swansea Massachusetts. I enclose the posting that was made for the entry to the page. "Randy Blake II - Founder and vocalist for the Heavy Metal band BRIAR ROSE"

Thank you. Randy Blake II CEO Sleeping Wizard Productions Vocalist For BRIAR ROSE

Whatever. Shalom (HelloPeace) 17:52, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nobody Knows (Nik Kershaw song)

Can you please tell me why with four legitimate comments to keep, 1 delete and 4 legitimate comments to merge - why you do not see this as a consensus keep = merge?--VS talk 05:48, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

  • I should add that closure by non-admins is fine by me but the rules include Close calls and controversial or ambiguous decisions should be left to an administrator. With respect I think this is a close call and should be reverted by you and left then to another administrator - even though I fully respect you for helping out in the backlog. If you could let me know your thoughts please?--VS talk 06:02, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for your prompt and reasoned answer. My suggestion is to revert the decision and then return it as consensus to merge with an appropriate edit summary. Once you have done that let me know and I will merge for you unless you feel okay to do so.--VS talk 22:07, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
  • Well put and executed reversion. My compliments!--VS talk 00:26, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
