Notability vs. Backlog

Hi, I see you're working on the AFC backlog, but please try to at least assert notability when you are doing so. (I'm referring to PlateWire, which I deleted. I'd be happy to undelete if you plan to work on it right away.) I think a backlog is preferable to a ton of new articles that can't pass WP:CSD. Thanks! -- But|seriously|folks  02:41, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Interesting. I thought it was good enough to pass CSD A7, but I remember it was a close call, and I don't intend to question the decision to delete it. Shalom Hello 03:10, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

List of postal codes in Sri Lanka

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on List of postal codes in Sri Lanka, by Andyjsmith (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because List of postal codes in Sri Lanka fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

Pointless and unencyclopedic list. Wikipedia is not a directory

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting List of postal codes in Sri Lanka, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 12:38, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Non admin closure

I noticed a non-admin closure on an RfD here. How do you do that? J-stan Talk 14:43, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, that really answers my question. J-stan Talk 19:06, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Beckham law

I think I was originally considering a speedy delete, then re-read the article and had a change of heart, and forgot to change the edit summary. My bad. However, if you don't reference some sources pretty soon, the article will likely face deletion by prod or AfD process. Here's a few cursory links I found: [1], [2], [3]. Those were just the first three Google hits on "Beckham-law Spain". The subject is obviously notable, so just work on some sources and the tone of the article. Specifically avoid using "you" and the second person, as this is not in an encyclopedic tone. Let me know if I can help. Realkyhick 02:52, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Much, much, much better! Good job on the rewrite. Another source or two (or several — no such thing as too many) and you'll be good to go. The call for a tax expert is a good idea. Realkyhick 02:57, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

AFC

Shalom! :-) Thank you for your participation at WP:AFC. Please remember to put the accepted/declined templates at the bottom of the submissions. Also, please consider adding importScript ('User:Henrik/js/afc-helper.js'); into your monobook.js as it helps with organizing the articles for creation requests. Happy editing! --Boricuaeddie 18:07, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

You don't have to make it work; it works automagically:-) Just copy the code (in this case, importScript ('User:Henrik/js/afc-helper.js'); ), go to your monobook.js (if you're using Firefox), click "edit", paste the code, bypass and reload your cache, and the script will work. Happy editing! --Boricuaeddie 18:20, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Hello

Assuming that you're an admin, it is obvious that dispute resolution don't work, the person won't even discuss issues! C'mon now, it isn't even just him and I can't resolve issues with people who constantly personally attack you and won't even try and discuss..

Look! They are seriously trying to intimidate me from editing and gathering up biased users.

They're obviously conspiring, why is this not wikistalking? Why doesn't it warrant action, why just stand by and ask me to handle it on account that I've been blocked before? Am I not entitled to protection against such harassment now? Dispute resolution will do nothing and my blocks have nothing to do with this harassment. I don't believe dispute resolution is an option, he won't accept. Can someone please send him a warning at least, I do think this is a great case tho, conspiring to counter every edit I make? C'mon now!! Wikipedia, be fair.. Why not block him and the participants? If I do something like this, block me.. Please do, please.. But I haven't, no use in bringing up issues of 3rr that have nothing to do with this. You see why I've been engaged in such disputes, because I'm being harassed! Why does wiki let this racially based nonsense run rampant?Taharqa 19:13, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

My review

Hey! I'd say "Hi Shalom", but then I'd feel I was speaking tautologically. Anyway, that aside, thanks for your review. I've been wondering of late how I'm travelling, but didn't know how to get feedback. From finding the review function, I now know. Thanks again for your pointers, though! --lincalinca 07:36, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Sockpuppet case

Well, I didn't actually withdraw the accusation of sockpuppetry, but I agree it could have been some bizarre mistake and isn't in itself enough evidence. I hadn't noticed the date or that it was a copy of a message on Kephera975's talk page. So I have no problem with the case being closed for now. IPSOS (talk) 23:19, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

MY RFA

Hi there, I am flattered. I think I need a couple of days. I just finished a request for comment against User:Eyrian, and it was deleted for lack of interest. I've been warned by a certain user to let this blow by first, and to wait for a month or two. Also, I am planning to attend the WP:NYC meet-up this Sunday. Should I wait until next week, next month, or jump into the water with the sharks first? Bearian 15:33, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Thank you very much for nominating me. I have declined by posting a notice at the link you created. I really think I am not quite ready yet, but will be soon. But first, there are vandals to vanquish! I will be open to a nomination in another month or so. Thanks again. Bearian 12:59, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Allegations of state terrorism by Russia

Hey, I noticed your comment on the AFD for this article, but I don't know if you noticed something. The page only has two edits. In this particular case, I don't feel your comment is reflective of the situation. I doubt anybody feels that the article should be kept as is, but it's hardly unreasonable to wait at least until folks have a chance to improve it. It might be worth modifying your comment to acknowledge the current state of the article is very rudimentary. FrozenPurpleCube 09:16, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Pennsylvania's 55th and 64th Representative Districts

Hello, two days ago I submitted two articles to be put on Wikipedia in the articles for creation page. They were articles giving district infomation on Pennsylvania's 55th and 64th Representative Districts, there seems to be a problem. You put the article for the 55th District as a article for Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania and you never put up the 64th District anywhere. Both articles are links of infomation for Pennsylvania's General Assembly links(category:pennsylvania general assembly) and should be put in there right places which are in the links for the 55th and 64th Representative Districts.

Thank You.

Dear Shalom,

Thanks for your message. You're right: I didn't know. I'm sorry about that. Sometimes I find slight innaccuracies or outdated info on the page relating to me, and so I've juts gone ahead and changed it to make it more accurate. Wikipedia is a super resource, but I admit I find it mind-boggling to negotiate it's byways and bylaws, rational and effective as they are. From now, I won't alter the page on me again. But is there a way I can make suggestions if some mistakes or wrong info appears on it?

Best wishes,

Suhayl (Saadi)

PS. I see you're taking a well-earned wiki-break, so you may not get this for a while. Have a good break!

Possible co-nomination of Haemo for RfA

I was discussing with Haemo the possibility of nominating him for RfA and he had mentioned that both you and Hildanknight had previously been interested and that he would likely accept the nomination.[4] Haemo is a great editor and the project would benefit greatly from him using the administrative tools. Would you be interested in co-nominating him? Pablo Talk | Contributions 01:44, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

BJAODN

I noted this in the newsroom, but to avoid the appearance of non-neutrality, I'd rather you not write the BJAODN piece. I don't think that you couldn't write it neutrally, but since you were involved and commented in a few places on it (including on the RFAr), there would be at least one person who would question your neutrality, I'm sure. About URENIO entry deletion

Hello,

I'm writing about your comments on URENIO Research Unit Wikipedia entry, which is proposed by you to be deleted, because of the following concern: Clear violation of WP:COI and WP:SPAM.

We rewrite the entry trying to follow closely the Wikipedia writing guide. As URENIO Research Unit is a non-profit university lab we tried also to follow the writing style of similar organisations (i.e. Centre for Cities, Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, Wichita Falls Metropolitan Planning Organization, etc.

If you think that there are still reasons for entry's deletions please informing me.

Thanks in advance,

Your MfD vote

Hello and Shalom :), I was wondering if you would be willing to change your MfD vote on Portal:NATO. I just spent some time updating it, and I think it's up to scratch. And, I will update it in the future. Also, do you mind responding on my talk page? Thanks, Neranei (talk) 18:56, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for changing your vote, it was in a bad state, I agree. Thanks! Neranei (talk) 19:02, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

I think it was the right call.

On that AfC. I looked very hard at that, and pondered. One thing that struck me was most of the refs are what would be considered certainly WP:OR, and not WP:RS. I'd have made the same choice, so at least one other person agrees you made the right decision. Also as you mentioned, it was pretty POV-ish, and could probably have led to some serious contention, which really isn't helpful. I think you did good! ArielGold 23:21, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
