[edit] Life
[edit] Locations
1986-2004: As a child, I was grown up in Mashad, Iran.
1988-1992: I have visited Isfahan, Shiraz, Tehran and Frankfurt around these years (I'm not exactly sure).
1999: I had a trip to Paris, a small town in Germany and a little visit to the Netherlands. It was around my birthday; Aug 28th. I have seen the counter on the Eiffel tower counting down to 0 indicating year 2000. At the time I was there, it was around 125, I don't remember exactly. It was me, my younger brother and my father.
2003: Again with my father and my younger brother, I had a trip to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Although you couldn't find much of the things you couldn't find in Iran and so it was not any good for shopping, but the environment was really great. It was all gardens. In fact, there was no island between boulevards, it was all streets between parks!
2004-2007: I am currently living in Tehran. I study software engineering in the University of Tehran. In fact, the meaning of software engineering is a bit different in Iran. It means computer science!
2007: My first trip to a foreign country, alone! During the summer, I came to work (as an intern) in Japan. It was arranged by the IAESTE and so everything was made in a way to maximize culture exchange; living in a host family, events etc.
[edit] Schools
1992-1994: The first two years of my elementary school was epent in Saliani elementary school. A school in Mashad, not very famous at all.
1994-1997: To study the next three years of elementary school, I moved to Ebtekar. Again, somewhere near where we were living. That school was nothing special either.
1997-2000: I was chosen as an intelligent student along with another 95 in Mashad. I changed school to NODET(SAMPAD) guidance school. It was fun, all the changes, laboratories, additional knowledge and of course other intelligent beings!!
2000-2004: All of us except one were accepted to stay in NODET to study in high school along with an additional 25 people. It was not as good in high school, but still being with smart friends was a good push to make me work harder on math. It was in high school that I started to specifically like discrete mathematics.
2004-now: I currently study in the University of Tehran, computer science.

[edit] Mathematics
I always loved mathematics from the very elementary school. My hobby at that time, when I didn't much know mathematics was to write two 10 digit numbers and multiply them together. When I reached guidance school (In Iran, year 6 of elementary school + years 1 and 2 of high school is called guidance school), I studied more specific on math, specially algebra. I remember when I learned matrix operations and their use in solving equations, my hobby was to tell others to give me a 10 equations with 10 variables, and I would solve them within classes and of course classes I didn't like! Funny thing was, their equations all had at most 2 variables and although their answers were 1,2,... and 10, they always had problem getting the equations correct. Solving those always led to really strange fractional numbers! It was at guidance school when I first met one of my best friends, Arian Khosravi. His speciality was geometry, although he is far from it now. We then went to high school, continued studying math. We both got to the second level in both Mathematics and Computer Olympiads, but we didn't get past it. The important thing was, we liked what we studied. I'm currently studying computer science in the University of Tehran. I always get the best scores in our mathematics courses, along with the other courses ;) I like math mostly in discrete mathematics.
[edit] Physics
I never liked physics. As a mathematician, I thought physics is math with no precision and not considering anything! When I reached university, I started to like almost all sciences, including physics. I now like the nature of physics very much, but still, I hate its math. I then studied a little bit of everything in physics, from quantum computers, to Einstein's special relativity, quantum physics, black holes, M theory and string theory.
[edit] Biology
After mathematics, biology is my favorite science. Although knowing all the things that are happening to us is painful, it is still very fascinating (One thing that really pains me, is women's menstrual cycle). There are many things in biology that interest me; genetics, neural networks, physiology and almost everything else in this science.
[edit] Chemistry
I've always been bad in this. Although I know much about it, like electron orbitals, the way atoms and molecules behave etc, but I just can't get myself to like things such as how to extract copper from it's ore!!
[edit] Computer science
I almost consider it part of math. I like it a lot, especially when it gets to its theoretical parts. My favorite parts in computer science is formal languages and automata, computer graphics, AI, operating systems etc. My favorite operating system is Linux although I can't deny the greatness of Microsoft Windows XP. My favorite computer graphics development package (library) is OpenGL. Microsoft's DirectX is a powerful tool, but I can't imagine a day I develop program using this tool!
[edit] Games
[edit] Games I've played
As far as I remember, we used to have a commodore 64 and I used to play with it with my brother. After I broke it several times, my parents decided not to repair it anymore. After a year, not having any kind of computers, they bought us a computer: an intel 80386 dx4 processor, 4 MBs of RAM, 512 KB of video memory, a 128 MB hard disk and a 14" philips monitor. This goes back to year 1993. I still have the monitor and it works!! From then on, we gradually upgraded our computer every two years. I remember, the first game I played was Maniac Mansion: Day of the tentacle. It was the shareware version so I obviously got stock in the middle of the game. I always thought that copyright protection was another puzzle I couldn't solve! From then on, I played many games such as: DOS 6's Gorillaz and Snake, Wolf 3D, Doom, Commander Keen, Skyroads, Vikings, Warcraft II, Jazz Jackrabbit, Blake Stone, Worms, Death Rally and many many others.
