Mark Greer born Mark John Greer January, 1958 in Mattawan, Michigan. He is currently the Director of Bands for Mattawan Consolidated Schools

Mark was born January, 1958 in Mattawan, Michigan His father owned a liquor store and his mother was a homemaker. Both of his parents have Slovakian ancestry.

Mark attended Mattawan High School and graduated in 1976. Mattawan's band offers the Sousa award for best musical talent which Mark received his senior year. His band director at Mattawan was Richard Anderson, who still teaches there. After high school, he received his Bachelors degree in Music Education from Arizona State University and his Masters degree in Conducting from Northern Arizona University. He completed his Doctor of Musical Arts coursework at ASU, but never completed his thesis, and therefore does not currently qualify as a Doctor.

Mark has directed bands at North Dakota State University, Clemson, South Dakota State University, and Fort Louis College. Currently he is the Director of Bands at Mattawan High School. While at Mattawan, he has been nominated for Teacher of the Year. In the 2006 and 2007 marching band seasons as director, he has led the band to six Grand Champion awards in various Southwest Michigan marching band competitions.

Mark married Carolyn Greer, and with her had one son, Hayes Greer.
