[edit] Update Needed
Since System of a Down is on a hiatus, the article should reflect Shavo's current musical affiliations. 71.226.82.17 (talk) 21:55, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] No wrecking of the discussion section
I removed the fan raves, the trash talk and the question. This is not his personal blog or a place to praise or bash Shavo.
[edit] PIC?
Well who removed the pic(again)? It's just fine and properly labeled and everything.
Yeah, this thing needs a picture.
Put up my own portrait, made by me, hopefulyl can't be bitched about or deleted by wikifreaks who have a fetish for properly tagged images, wich BTW are hard to get if you didn't make them. It's a sad, damn shame. --Mudel 00:14, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
Why not a real picture of him? Jeez.
- WHYS NOT?! MAYBE BECAUSE EVERY PICTURE I PUT UP GETS DELETED BY WIKIPEDIA GEEKS WHO CLAIM IT'S A VIOLATION OF THOSE BLOODY IMAGE TAGS! THAT'S WHY NOT! If you can find one, be my guest, I'd much prefer a real one as well. --Mudel 16:46, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Random Story
"On November 7, 2005, at a show in promoting SOAD's album Hypnotize, Shavo and fellow bandmate John Dolmayan told a story of how John was being homosexual at a bar. The story can be found here."
- Is that really needed? It doesn't seem like it's really important or relevant, nor is it from a particularly reliable source (some guy posting it on a forum... and even then, the "story" seems to consist of a single line which doesn't actually explain it). Anyway, as I remember the story was of John pretending to be homosexual at a bar. - Demonic Duck 11:49, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
No its not needed *zap and its gone--Childzy 11:57, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Odadjian the Musician
What is meant by "shavo only plays on three or four songs..."? Do they mean that he didn't record in the studio during the ablum? I would find that hard to believe, personally. In their cover issue for Revolver before the release of "Mezmerized" he stated that he recently reinvigorated his love for the bass. I don't see why he wouldn't play on the albums....
I don't know. Maybe the author meant Steal this Album. I say that only because the bass work in Steal this Album is noticeably different from any other SOAD album. --TopGear 03:07, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Uses pick?
I'm not sure if this is accurate. I've watched a bunch of videos of SOAD in concert, and I never noticed a pick in his hand, and in some parts he is quite clearly shown using his fingers in a way that would make it impossible for him to hold a pick in his hand. --TopGear 22:54, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
He has stated that he uses his fingers in a couple of interviews. He DOES NOT use a pick. 69.112.171.235 17:27, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- Can you please cite these interviews? As I'm almost certain he plays with a pick. I've read it, as well. Not always, just on certain songs. For example, "Sugar". Watch the video and you will see. Certain parts he's using a pick, and if he's not then he's putting his pointer and thumb together and scraping the string using his nail in a very pick-like fashion (I've done it before, so it's possible that he does too). Also, take a look at his hands in this screenshot I took from the Chop Suey! video. I cannot see a pick, but that doesn't mean it's not there. Although, he could use his nails like I stated earlier. I'll research it a little more, later. I need some sleep for now. Bsroiaadn 13:26, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Anti-Islam?
If you can cite the source to this then this should stay in wikipedia but if you can't it shouldn't. But if this really happend, I think the point of this statement is missed if you have never listened to Chop Suey. The words "Self-Righteous Suicide" are mentioned in the song. I think that when he made this statement he meant that what the hypothetical bomber would be doing is "self-righteous suicide". This therefore would make what the hypothetical bomber did very wrong. He is defently not anti-islam this is easily shown as he is asocited with the Nation of Gods and Earths (which views Islam as a since and a way of life) through the RZA and their group Achozen--KingVegeta2000 01:14 7 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Images?
Why do people keep taking out perfectly O.K. images? The one with shavo and his goatee is awesome, why did it leave? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ssd175 (talk • contribs) 03:11, 5 March 2007 (UTC).
Why, did you make it? A picture needs to be a real photograph of them. You can put that in fanart or something... Burly red sheep 18:58, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
Change his pic of just him. No bass. --74.97.35.21 19:42, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Birthdate
Please provide a reliable source, when changing the birhdate, otherwise I'm gonna revert edits until a source is provided.Armatura 18:50, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
I heard it on a radio so how can I source that--74.97.35.21 19:40, 25 April 2007 (UTC) 3:42, 25 April 2007
- Which radio, when, who said that, referring to which source? How can you show us that this radio gives is a reliable info? Do you consider all that is being said by mass media a truth?
- For such a change you should provide a reference. Just having listened it on some radio is NOT enough. I added IMDB reference, so please do NOT change the birthdate anymore (unless you can CITE other sources). Armatura 20:48, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
102.1 The Edge in Toronto. On his REAL birthday. U werent suppose to answer my response. Just becuz its on the internet doesnt mean it has to be sourced becuz u can hear things from anywhere. The internet is not the most imprtant source. There is a real radio station not some station about jokes they have that on their own segment. Since the radio stations are part of the media they hav more conenctions on finding real info. Lastly IMDB is a terrible source.
[edit] NPOV
"Shavo's bass playing has rarely been captured well in the studio and is best heard during their numerous live performances (a good example is the Big Day Out 2002)."
NPOV? I recommend removing it. If anyone objects please post.
Also this page lacks citations.
70.247.97.65 20:52, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
I have no objections, but I believe they meant to say singing instead of bass playing. FallenWings47 15:39, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- I went ahead and deleted it. It is too subjective (whether it is about singing or bass playing) to be NPOV. Defixio 19:17, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] UrSession
Why is there no mention of Shavo's current projects, like UrSession.com? It's already been mentioned and featured in places like RollingStone.com, Guitar World, etc. Can someone please (re)post any info on this? I think the fans would be really interested in learning more about what he's up to during this SOAD hiatus.

[edit] Not a member of scars on broadway
Based on the note that daron wrote to soadfans.com, shavo isnt in the project, so dont write anything about it, add it to the associated acts, or add it to any shavo related pages. 74.124.33.181 23:14, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Well Daron also mentioned they are being joined by some other great musicians. Maybe he's not an official member, but he could still appear on the album. A while back I also heard something about Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante being a part of it. It could've just been a rumor. FallenWings47 20:21, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Mastodon incident?
Should there be some mention of his recent incident of beating up mastodon's guitarist? Dizzydark 20:19, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
