The downfall of Shannondale was the removal of the restrictive covenents by court decisions and the Civil Rights laws of the 1960s. My folks owned an undeveloped lot in Shannondale and one of the major points of ownership was 'no niggers, no Jews, no Catholics'. To gloss over the racist past of Shannondale as 'changing demographics' doesn't give a good picture of the downfall of the club. Sorry to see the clubhouse burned, the picture brought back many memories. Most of them good, but in retrospect the reason for going there was quite flawed.
