[edit] Template

I've recently created and added a Shaman King template to most of the Shaman King-related articles. If you have any questions or comments please contact me on my talk page. --TBC??? ??? ??? 05:24, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Manga Ending

I posted everything I knew about the series ending based on news I had read, but then checked Amazon.co.jp and found out that vol. 32 has been released. Can anyone get their hands on it and add onto what's allready here? I'm hoping for something a little more substancial than they all take a nap. Hewinsj 13:43, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

As far as I know vol 32 is part of the original series, and ends with the infamous Princess Hao non-ending... There aren't any sources on this article that actually mention a new ending volume that was released in 2006. I browsed the net for some time but couldn't find any hint of a new volume. Can anyone confirm whether this 2006 volume exists? Athanatis 16:30, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
I don't think Shaman King would be continuing anytime soon as the author, Hiroyuki Takei, has just started a new series,Jūki Ningen Jumbor, in an recent issue of Weekly Shounen Jump. Jutari 17:26, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
I read somewhere that hiroyuki takei will make a final volume 33. he should have said that to some reporter but i really dont have a reliable source so i dont edit the article page :P

[edit] Characters

I've looked many times at the Characters section, and no matter how many times I do, it still appears sloppy and disorganized. I propose providing links to the pages dedicated for main characters, another page for minor human characters, and yet another page for spirits. All of the current information could then be transferred to the aforementioned pages, with no loss of content. I think that would be more appropriate for this article, seeing as about half of it is unnecessarily devoted to character descriptions. Ctu2485 23:51, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

I could get behind that. The character section here has too much text if there are already individual articles for each one. Maybe move the data from here and put the links together in a chart with a thumbnail of each and everyone sorted by association or team affiliation? Hewinsj 20:28, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
I've moved a lot of the character section to its own article. Hopefully we can build that into something like Fullmetal Alchemist and Naruto have for minor characters. This way, we can have information on minor characters without all the clutter on the main page.Ctu2485 03:08, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

This is from an unregistered user, but what about adding more about characters that are manga-only? For example, Redseb and Seyram, as well as their spirit Golem which plays a good role in the manga. Also, it would be nice to add something about Mikihisa, who appears a lot in the manga.

I think it would be appropriate to introduce and organize information on the character groups, like the Five Warriors and Gandhara. User:74.69.27.134

I agree with the user above; I can get down to creating articles for manga-only characters. Also, I propose that X-Laws get a separate article, and remove the one that is with Iron Maiden Jeanne. Marco2050 04:35, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

If there's enough material on major characters they should get their own articles. If there isn't enough material, there should be a section for major and minor characters. Marco and Jeanie could fit in the major characters section, while the other X-Laws would go in minor characters (as they were supporting characters). You could then put a sub section in for anime/manga only characters into each of the two articles.
You don't want too many, because if you make an X-laws article, you could then argue one for each fighting team, and that's more separation of data than the Wiki usually likes. Hewinsj 15:26, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Techniques

There is no reason to have a different stub for every shaman technique. They all need to be compiled into a single article covering techniques. I already removed some links to articles about techniques that only redirect to the main article, so, hopefully, this will also help clear some of the clutter off of the template. Ctu2485 03:10, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Magical Boy?

I don't think you can remotely call Shaman King a counterpart to mahou shoujo anime. If it had a henshin sequence, maybe. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.122.63.142 (talk) 17:00, 6 December 2006 (UTC).

[edit] Yoh's second OS

Does anyone know the Japanese name of Yoh's Armour Oversoul? I only have the Chinese version so I know that it means White Swan, but not the pronunciation in Japanese.

  • Its formally called "Spirit of Sword: Byakkou" (スピリット・オブ・ソード: 白鵠) Though normally, it is simply shortened to "Byakkou" ("白鵠" meaning "White Swan"). Check the "Over Soul" article. There I made updates to the character's OS descriptions. Reige 16:29, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia is not a soap box

Guys and gals, please limit your discussion to the article and ways to improve it, not the article's subject. Matty-chan 21:42, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

What exactly are you referring to? - Jezebel Parks 22:03, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Shaman King Returns?

I've heard rumors about Takei saying that he hopes to finish the final chapter of Shaman King this year, or in 2008. It was said at a French Anime Convention. Volume 33 will have 280 or more pages.

We don't to distribute that link because then people will just read it online instead of supporting the manga and buying it when it comes out. It's true, but until we find a source other than that forum, it won't be added to the article. Also, please sign your posts with four "~". Thank you. Jezebel Parks 21:29, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
I found an interview on a French news site (translated by Google) that asks the question "Your publisher asked you to complete Shaman King hastily and you have never made a secret of the fact that you would like to complete it, do you still plan on doing so?" The response is "yes, I plan on ending the series as I originally imagined it ending, sometime in the beginning of next year."
Not sure how reputable this news site is but it could be worth discussing here. Hewinsj 04:39, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
We're waiting until a Japanese press release. Jezebel Parks 02:53, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
It's cool, I'll keep an eye out for something better. Also keeping my fingers crossed that this whole thing turns out to be true. Hewinsj 13:23, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Subject Merger

I'm a big contributor to the Shaman King articles, and lately have been updating the content in various articles alongside Jezebel Parks. Someone else has pitched this idea before, but I want to take the initiative and go ahead begin the project. So here's what I propose; we merge all main magic-related articles (ie. "Over Soul", "Giant O.S.", "Techniques of Shaman King") into one article. There is no productive reason to have these articles segregated and I petition that content from be incorporated under one article; I propose the simple moniker, "Magic (Shaman King)". This article will be divided accordingly to all major forms of magic in the series including "Hyōi Gattai", "Over Soul", and "Spells".

Now the Over Soul article has been heavily renovated (by myself and the anonymous 149.169.45.217) with general information concerning all Over Soul magic (Giant-, and Armor-types). So that part of the project is done.

All I'm proposing is a central article dedicated to the magic of Shaman King. Now, the Over Soul descriptions themselves could be relegated to their own independent article (given the sheer size & length of the collective descriptions, and the nature of the article.)

All I'm asking is for a small group of contributors to assist with the project (collecting information, research of licensed material and information [I'll handle this portion; I got the material], and article maintenance.)

I'm hoping I get some support on this. I think it's really worth it.

For anyone interested, just post a comment (w/ names...so I know who's on-board.) here or on my talk page. Hope to hear from ya'. Thanx.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Reige (talkcontribs) 14:46, 24 September 2007

If you plan on merging the articles, then I think you should just do it into Techniques of Shaman King. "Magic" is never used (at least in the series I watched and read), so seems inappropriate. This way, there would be no need to create a new page, and all the information would be in one place. My only worry is the article becoming too long, since the Over Soul article is already a little long in itself, but we'll just wait and see. If I had to choose, I would rather just leave it. Jezebel Parks 22:59, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
That...makes total sense. Okay, we can just do it that way. As for the list of Over Souls, we could possibly relocate them to a "list" article, that way they wouldn't distract from with the content of the techniques. I think that could work, don't you think? Reige 23:48, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Funbari no Uta

I'm alittle confused. On the page it reads; The side story Funbari no Uta, which lasts for only five chapters, is set six years after the end of the manga series features Hana Asakura, Whose name is formed by the combination of his parent's names, Hao and Anna's son, and his journey with his uncle Ryu to gather up the 5 elemental warriors:

I thought Hana was Yoh and Anna's son. I'm lost here. RecklessFire (talk) 00:16, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Well, some say it's the son of Hao and Anna, some say Yoh and Anna. I'm not completely sure, but I think Takei said that in the end, Yoh and Hao become the same being, so I guess it could be either. [edit] Kang Zeng Bang changes

I have the first two reprint volumes, and have noticed that some of the panels have been redrawn. Evidence: old vs new; old vs new; old vs new There are more examples, but those are just a few of the more noticeable ones. A small difference is how Ren's general design may stay the same, but his bangs are longer in the reprints than in the original. I just want to know if anyone thinks this is significant enough to include in the article. Jezebel Parks (talk) 00:15, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Crazy, I didn't know it was going to be anything that dramatic. I think this is definitely notable, and could be mentioned in a few sentences or short paragraph in the section about the new reprinting. If you want to take one of these examples that you have provided, combine them into one side-by-side image and discuss specific things that have changed between printings. You could claim fair use on that image since you are discussing the manga in a real world, out of universe sense. This was done in the production section of the film 300 to compare shots in the film taken directly from the comic. Hewinsj (talk) 02:39, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
