"Shawty" is the first single off of Plies's debut album, The Real Testament. The track features T-Pain and is produced by Drumma Boy and Ensayne. The video premiered on 106 and Park and MTV's Discover & Download. The video features celebrity cameos from Rick Ross, Rich Boy, Edgerrin James and Jevon Kearse. The track samples Earth, Wind & Fire's "Fantasy". "Shawty" is a southern name for "baby". However, according to Plies, this term means "someone of the opposite sex who you have an understanding with".

"Shawty" has thus far peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100, making the single Plies' first top ten hit single on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as T-Pain's fifth and his first as a featured artist. This is Plies's most successful single, and T-Pain's fifth successful single, trailing behind "I'm Sprung". T-Pain and Plies' new single hit the stores July 11, 2007. A remix featuring Webbie and T-Pain was also released on the mixtape, DJ Smallz: The Best Thing Smoking Vol. 2 (We Still Smokin'). Another remix exists featuring a verse by Dizasta, with a verse by T-Pain and the same chorus. This was released August 28, 2007 on DJ Dizasta's "Tha Disasterpiece vol 5"[citation needed]. A female version of the song has been covered by Tawna. The official R&B remix features Trey Songz and Pleasure of Pretty Ricky.
