From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Shawnee Hills Wine Trail is the oldest wine trail in Illinois located in Jackson and Union counties in Southern Illinois.

It organized in 1996 by the first three wineries in the region, Alto Vineyards, Owl Creek Vineyard and Pomona Winery. Additional wineries have opened nearly every year with 10 wineries now located on the driving trail.

The ten wineries are as follows:

  • Alto Vineyards
  • Blue Sky Vineyards
  • Hedman Vineyards
  • Inheritance Valley
  • Kite Hill Vineyards
  • Orlandini Vineyard (joining 2008)
  • Owl Creek Vineyard
  • Pomona Winery
  • StarView Vineyards
  • Von Jakob Vineyard

The wineries are generally located south of Route 13 (Carbondale and Murphysboro), west of Interstate 57, north of Route 146 (Anna and Jonesboro) and east of the Mississippi River in the western Shawnee Hills.
