Shawn Wooden (born October 23, 1973, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) was a safety with an 9 year career from 1996 to 2004. He was forced to retire due to a back injury. He played for the Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears of the National Football League. Wooden attended Abington Senior High School, where he rushed for more than 2000 yards as a running back in his senior season. He then attended the University of Notre Dame, where he played cornerback. The highlight of his college playing days came when he broke up Charlie Ward's final pass when Notre Dame (ranked #2 at the time) defeated FSU (ranked #1 at the time) in 1993.
