Shawn Patience

Shawn Patience is the current mayor of Fort Macleod, Alberta, a town of 3 100 in Southern Alberta, Canada. He was elected to his first term in office in 2004. In the latest Alberta Municipal Elections, on October 15, 2007, he defeated challenger Susan Koots with 650 votes to her 250 votes. In his first term in office, Patience put forward a strong bid which landed Fort Macleod with the $110 000 000 Alberta Police and Peace Officer Training Center, to be completed in 2010. He also guided the town through an important highway realignment, making Fort Macleod the only municipality between Calgary and the Coutts Border Crossing with the land and permission to build commercial properties along the new highway. He has recently announced he will seek the Progressive Conservative Party of Alberta nomination in the Livingstone-Macleod Electoral District in the next provincial election, replacing Dave Coutts, who has announced he will be retiring before the next Alberta Provincial Election.
