Shawn Matthias (born February 19, 1988 in Milton, Ontario) is a professional Canadian ice hockey player for the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League.
Originally drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the second round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. On the day of the 2007 NHL Trade Deadline, he was traded to the Panthers in exchange for Todd Bertuzzi, who went to Detroit. On January 18, 2008 the Panthers called up Matthias from the Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League. In his second NHL game on January 19, 2008, he scored his first 2 goals, both against Brent Johnson of the Washington Capitals.
He played for Canada at the 2008 World Juniors, where he helped his team win the gold medal.
