Shawn Kuykendall (born February 21, 1982 in Fairfax, Virginia) is an American soccer player who was plays for University of Washington. His parents are Kurt and Sherry Kuykendall. His father was inducted into the American University Athletics Hall of Fame in 1997 and was a 1973 All-American goalkeeper. Kurt Kuykendall played for the Washington Diplomats and the New York Cosmos in the NASL. Both parents attended American University, Washington D.C. The Kuykendalls have a rich family history in American University soccer; Shawn's brother, JP, is a senior on the current AU squad. His other brother, Kris, is a 2003 graduate of AU and was co-captain of the 2002 team.

- Successful high school career at Madison High School.
- Joined American University and continued his career as a midfielder. During an interview in his senior year in college Shawn said "It inspires me everyday to walk through Bender Arena and see my father's plaque."
- After completing college in February 2005, he was drafted by D.C. United in the 4th round (48th overall) of the 2005 MLS Supplemental Draft.
- In 2006 he was traded to Red Bull New York with his teammate Dema Kovalenko from D.C. United.
