Shawn J. Period

Shawn J. Period, real name Shawn M. Jones, is a well known New York City producer (originally from Richmond, Virginia) who has crafted singles for the likes of Mad Skillz, Boot Camp Clik, Mos Def, Da Bush Babees and various artists on the Rawkus Records label. He was also a member of Down South, whose album Lost in Brooklyn (Big Beat Records, 1994)is considered a hip hop classic.

His production was vital in shaping the early sound of Rawkus Records artists like the ones on Lyricist Lounge, Volume One.

In 2006, Shawn reemerged with a new sound revolving around the use of live instruments and no samples.
