Shawn Foreman (born June 3, 1975 in Chesapeake, Virginia) is a former American football wide receiver. He played collegiately at West Virginia.

In his career, Foreman has played for the New York Jets, the Oklahoma Wranglers, the Indiana Firebirds, and the Grand Rapids Rampage.

Foreman attended Indian River High School in Chesapeake, Virginia. While there, he was a First team All-City, All-County, All-Area & All-Tidewater Conference choice as a wide receiver, and also Class AAA All-Virginia honors. Foreman caught a record 62 passes for 1,008 yards as a senior. He was also a standout baseball & basketball player. In 1995 Foreman decided that he wanted to be a school teacher.[1]

Foreman, barely made it into college due to struggleling to make a squalifying score on his standardized entrance test.[2]While at West Virginia, Foreman majored in Child Development and Family Studies. He was also a member of the Atheltic Director's Academic Honor Roll. Forman was also a recipient of the Gail W. Cunningham endowed scholarship.

In 1995, Foreman was a back-up strong safety until switching to flanker for the last month of the season. He recorded 15 tackles (6 solos) with a fumble recovery. In three games on offense, he caught four passes for 56 yards.

Against Virginia Tech, Foreman recorded a blocked punt which he recovered, and recorded four tackles. In the East Carolina game, he recorded three tackles. Against Rutgers, Foreman played both offense and defense, recording one reception for five yards, and three tackles. In the Miami game, he had two receptions for 28 yards. Against Pitt in the Backyard Brawl, Foreman recorded a season-long 23-yard reception.

In 1996, Forman appeared in every game of the season as a back-up wide receiver. He finished the season with 25 catches for 415 yards a 16.6 yards per reception average and three touchdowns. Forman also served as a back-up strong safety, recording 6 tackles (2 solos).

Against Pitt, Foreman began the season with three receptions for 42 yards. Against Miami, he caught six passes for 80 yards. Then against Rutgers, Foreman recorded two touchdown receptions, 23 and 48-yards, as he recorded six catches for 164 yards. Against Virginia Tech, Foreman caught four passes for 44 yards. Against Maryland, he recorded four receptions for 43 yards.

In 1997, Foreman was an All-Big East First-team selection. He led the conference and set a school season record with 77 receptions, for 928 yards averaging 12.1 yards per reception, (third-best season total in WVU history) & five touchdowns.

Forman started the first three games at split end before shifting to flanker. Against East Carolina, he recorded seven receptions for 126 yards. In the Boston College game, Foreman recorded 10 receptions for 153 yards, and two touchdowns. Against the Miami Hurricanes, he recorded six receptions for 64 yards and one touchdown. In the Virginia Tech game, Foreman made six receptions for 94 yards and one touchdown. Against Syracuse, he recorded eight receptions for 98 yards. In the Backyard Brawl, Foreman caught six passes for 87 yards. Against Georgia Tech, he recorded 12 receptions, tying a school record, for 110 yards in the Carquest Bowl.

While being a year away from his degree, Foreman said, that he would possibly go to graduate school, and that if the NFL didn't interfere, that he had his heart set on going back to school, as an elementary school teacher.[3]

In 1998, Foreman was an All-Big East First-team selection. He Received the Iron Mountaineer Award as the top performer in the winter workout program. Foreman served as an offensive co-captain for the Moutaineers. He started every game of the season at flanker, finishing second on the team with 63 receptions for 948 yards, a 15.0 yards per reception average, and eight touchdowns. Only David Saunders (1,043 in 1996) gained more yards receiving in a season for the Mountaineers. Foreman also recorded two tackles.

Against Ohio State, Foreman began the season with a six yard touchdown reception. In the Maryland game, he added a 14-yard touchdown reception. Against Tulsa, he recorded four receptions for 73 yards. In the Temple game, Foreman made four receptions for 72 yards. Against the Miami Hurricanes, he recorded nine receptions for 158 yards and one touchdown. In the Rutgers game, Foreman recorded four receptions for 77 yards and one touchdown. Against Boston College, he recorded four receptions for 61 yards and one touchdown. In the Backyard Brawl, Foreman recorded five receptions for 115 yards and one touchdown. Against Missouri in the Insight.com Bowl, he ended his college career with a career-high 11 receptions for 189 yards. Foremans 11 receptions ranked fifth on the school’s record books and his 189 yards ranked sixth.

Foremnas 169 career recepetions rank second on the West Virginia all-time receptions list.[6] His 2,347 receiving yards ranks third on the West Virginia all-time receiving yardage list.[7] Foreman's 16 career touchdown receptions is tied for seventh best on the West Virginia all-time touchdown receptions list.[8]

After going undrafted in the 1999 NFL Draft, Foreman signed with the New York Jets on April 20.[9]

In 2001, Foreman entered the Arena Football League with the Oklahoma Wranglers. During his rookie season, he finished third on the team in receiving. For the season, Foreman recorded 33 receptions for 406 yards and nine touchdowns.[10] He also finished third on defense, with 24.5 tackles, one pass break up, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one interception.[11]

During the season opener against the Houston ThunderBears, Foreman recorded three receptions for 43 yards and one touchdown. In the week two game against the Chicago Rush, he recorded three receptions for 30 yards and one touchdown. During week three against the Detroit Fury, Foreman recorded two receptions for 26 yards and one touchdown. In the week four games against the San Jose SaberCats, he recorded two receptions for 20 yards. Foreman was out of action during weeks five through seven. During the week eight game against the Milwaukee Mustangs, he recorded five recepptions for 58 yards and one touchdown. In week nine against the Arizona Rattlers, Foreman recorded four receptions for 25 yards. During the week 10 game against the Thunderbears, he recorded three receptions for 70 yards and two touchdowns. In week 11 against the SaberCats, Foreman recorded three receptions for 29 yards. During week 12, he recorded four receptions for 43 yards and one touchdown. In week 14, Foreman recorded two receptions for 45 yards and one touchdown. During the season finale against the Los Angeles Avengers, he recorded two receptions for 17 yards and one touchdown.

On April 12, 2002, Foreman was signed by the Indiana Firebirds.[12] For the season, he finished eight on the team in receiving. Foreman had five receptions for 29 yards.[13] He also, finished fourth on the team in defense, recording 36 tackles, pass broken up, one fumble recovery, and one intereception for 16 yards.[14]

For the season, Foreman only played in four games. During week one against the Chicago Rush, he recorded one reception for five yards. In week five game against the Fury, Foreman recorded one reception for nine yards. During the week eight game against the Dallas Desperados, he recorded two receptions for eight yards. In the week eight game against the Fury, Foreman recorded one reception for seven yards.

In 2003, Foreman finished tenth on the team in receiving. For the season he recorded 5 receptions for 78 yards, and three touchdowns.[15] Foreman also finished fifth on the team in defense, recording 41.5 tackles, one pass broken up, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and three interceptions for 21 yards.[16]

For 2003, Foreman, once again, only played in four games on the season. During the week 11 game against the Desperados, he recorded one reception for 19 yards and one touchdown. In the week 12 game against the SaberCats, Foreman recorded one reception for 31 yards and one touchdown. During week 13 against the Buffalo Destroyers, he recorded two receptions for 12 yards. In his last appearance of the season, week 15 against the Grand Rapids Rampage, Foreman recorded one reception for 16 yards and one touchdown.

In 2004, playing for a Grand Rapids Rampage team that went 1-15, Foreman finished sixth on the team in receiving. He recorded 25 receptions for 296 yards, and six touchdowns.[17] Foreman also finished 12th on the team in defense, recording 15 tackles, one pass broken up, one forced fumble, one fumbel recovery, and one interception.[18]

For the 2004 season, Foreman played in eight games for the Rampage. During his first Rampage game, week five against the Dallas Desperados, Foreman recorded four receptions for 43 yards, and one interception. In week six against the Los Angeles Avengers, he recorded six receptions for 84 yards and three touchdowns. During the week eight game against his former team, the Firebirds, Foreman recorded two receptions for 13 yards. In week nine against the Arizona Rattlers, he recorded three receptions for 36 yards and one touchdwon. During the week 10 game against the Detroit Fury, Foreman recorded three receptions for 30 yards. In week 11 against the Firebirds, he recorded two receptions for 15 yards. In week 12 against the Colorado Crush, Foreman four receptions for 57 yards and one touchdown. During his last appearance of the season, week 14 against the Chicago Rush, Foreman recorded one reception for 18 yards.
