Shawmut (MBTA station)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Shawmut is a station on the Ashmont branch Red Line subway on Dayton Street between Centre Street and Lyndhurst Street in Dorchester, Massachusetts. It opened on September 1, 1928, and with a 420-foot platform, was the only prewar station that could accommodate six-car trains. The station is not wheelchair accessible; however, an elevator is currently under construction. There are currently no MBTA bus connections. It is close to Dorchester's Codman Square, where busses can be found.
