[edit] History

The Shaw neighborhood was named for Henry Shaw, the founder of the Missouri Botanical Gardens. Many of the houses in Shaw and surrounding neighborhoods were built in the late 19th century and early 20th century. The first Imo's Pizza was located at the corner Thurman and Shaw Avenue and still functions as a bakery for the Roma Bakery Company and provides the famous thin crusts for area Imo's restaurants.[2]

[edit] Restaurants and bars

The Thurman Grill and Provisions, located at the corner of Thurman and Shenandoah, is a recent addition to the neighborhood. They serve a wide variety of food with BBQ on the weekends and Sunday brunch. They also feature a fine selection of beer, wine, and spirits.
