Owned and operated in Burnaby, British Columbia by James Shavick and his wife, former British Columbia politician Joy MacPhail, the company has primarily produced television films, as well as a few theatrical films and a number of television series, including The New Addams Family and Breaker High.

The company has also produced a number of LGBT-themed projects for the American gay television network here!, such as the series Dante's Cove and a series of mystery films starring Chad Allen as gay detective Donald Strachey. James Shavick has been a longtime professional associate of that network's founder Paul Colichman. In the summer of 2006, Shavick Entertainment also acquired a majority share in the similar Canadian network OUTtv and sister station HARD on PrideVision, and announced plans to build a closer business relationship between OUTtv and here!, including sharing programming content.
