Sharya

Sharya (Russian: Шарья́) is a town in Kostroma Oblast, Russia, located on the left bank of the Vetluga River some 330 km northeast of Kostroma. Population: 24,800 (2005 est.); 24,900 (2002 Census); 27,062 (1989 Census); 26,000 (1974).

The settlement of Sharya was founded in 1906 and granted town status in 1938.
