Sharon Adele Wood (born May 18, 1957) is a Canadian mountaineer. On May 20, 1986, at 9:00 pm, accompanied by Dwayne Congdon, she became the first North American woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest. The two climbers were members of the Canadian Everest Light expedition, which defined a new route to the summit: from the Rongbuk Glacier to the west shoulder, then to the final ascent via the Hornbein Couloir.
Wood owns and manages the motivational speaking company, Adventure Dynamics Inc., and is an active member of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides. She resides in Canmore, Alberta, Canada with her two sons.
